The first seal portion may include a releasable seal between the first and second package layers, and the second seal portion may include a permanent seal between the first and second package layers.

The invention further relates to a device (200) for wrapping and sealing a flexible sheet over an insert (10) to produce a pack (100) for preparing a food or beverage product from one or more ingredients.

The split plate includes an alpha plate and a beta plate. In addition, the alpha plate and the beta plate each include a second heated surface that cooperate together to form a third seal line that extends in a direction perpendicular to the co-linear seal lines and intersects the co-linear seal lines. Laser light passing through the second sub-segment enters the first sub-segment between the first and the second portion.
