The device for welding thermoplastic parts includes a matrix for positioning the parts to be assembled, the matrix including an amagnetic insulating insert that defines joining zones in which the welds must be produced, a bladder defining a sealed volume and means for producing a partial vacuum in the sealed volume, and means for moving a magnetic induction head to near the joining zones and without making contact with the bladder. The welding process includes positioning at least one first part, then of placing metal inserts on areas of the first part corresponding to the joining zones that must be welded, and then positioning at least one second part. A bladder is put in place covering the parts and a partial vacuum is created in the volume defined by the bladder. The magnetic induction head is moved to produce the weld bead without contact while the partial vacuum is maintained.

A tool for use in fusing an outlet fitting in the side wall of a plastic pipe has a base with three perpendicular guide rods. A movable plate is reciprocated on the guide rods in response to manual operation of a rack-and-pinion. The movable plate has a hole oriented to align a drill adapter and an outlet fitting adapter which are interchangeably inserted into the hole on an axis extending through a predetermined point on the longitudinal axis of the pipe. A retractable ratchet strap tightly girts the pipe to secure the tool against the pipe. The ratchet strap assures that the tool always maintains its original orientation on the pipe and the hole assures that interchanged drill and outlet fitting adapters are always returned to their original orientation in the tool. Therefore, the outlet fitting is always fused in its proper orientation in the pipe.

Welding device and welding method

A welding device includes a first graphite heater and a second graphite heater that come into contact with a first member and a second member; and a first die and a second die, which sandwich the first and second graphite heaters with the first and second members interposed therebetween. The first and second graphite heaters have graphite sheets that generate heat by electric power, insulating materials, outer covers, and inner covers, and are configured such that structures of the graphite sheets covered by the insulating materials are interposed between outer covers and inner covers.

A laser welding apparatus is provides that includes: a support member including a heat generation portion which has a size that is limited to correspond to a size of a welding area of a plurality of plastic components and is made from a material that absorbs a laser beam and generates heat, and which generates heat of a temperature that is equal to or greater than a melting temperature of the plastic components; a laser beam irradiation unit for converging a laser beam to be transmitted through the plurality of plastic components, and irradiating the laser beam toward the heat generation portion through the plurality of plastic components; and a welding controller for causing a laser beam to be irradiated at the heat generation portion using the laser beam irradiation unit to thereby cause the heat generation portion to generate heat, and welding abutting faces of a welding area of the plurality of plastic components with heat that is generated.

An applicator mitt assembly system comprises an applicator mitt tooling including: a tooling body having a mitt-perimeter cutter and weld bead thereon which are shaped to a perimeter of a mitt to be cut; a heating element associated with the tooling body which is shaped so as to substantially match a shape of the weld bead to create a perimeter weld for the mitt when engaged with the tooling body; and an ejector platen which is actuatable relative to the tooling body to eject a cut and welded mitt. A conveyor device is adapted to feed mitt material towards the tooling and a tooling actuator adapted to actuate the tooling relative to the conveyor device to allow the cutter to cut mitt material at the conveyor device. A discrete applicator mitt tooling, method of assembling an applicator mitt, and welded applicator mitt are also provided.

The rotary drum includes at least one seal bar with a sealing zone and a weakening zone, or it can include or at least one sealing die that extends in the machine direction. The single sealing zone or sealing die may be a heated perforator, and may include a heating wire. The heating wire may be an NiCr wire stitched into the heater, and be disposed on a cap or on the seal bar. The weakening zone may create a line of weakness that is uniform or varies in intensity. The sealing zone may include temperature zones, cartridge heaters, cooling air, or heated air, or a source of ultrasonic, microwave or radiative energy.

The invention relates to a method for joining fiber-plastic composite (FPC) components, in particular aircraft FPC components, comprising the following steps: i) providing a first and a second FPC component, the first FPC component having a recess; ii) introducing a stabilizing device into the recess of the first FPC component, the stabilizing device having a basic body with a cavity, an opening and a pressing element, which pressing element has at least partially a higher flexibility than the base body; iii) filling the cavity with a fluid, so that the pressing element is pressed against a delimiting surface of the first FPC component, which delimits the recess; iv) connecting the first FPC component to the second FPC component by joining at a connecting point, wherein a pressure force, is exerted onto the connecting point by means of the pressing element for stabilizing the form of the recess.
