Former shoulder
11040788 · 2021-06-22 · ·

A former assembly (10) including a base (11) to which there is attached a frame (12) that supports a sleeve (13). The sleeve (13) encloses a generally upwardly extending passage (14) to which product is delivered in batches from a weighing machine. Fixed to the internal surface (20) of the former shoulder (15) are heaters (24) that heat the external surface (16) over which the film bag material passes to be heated thereby.

ROTARY IMPULSE SEALER
20210178704 · 2021-06-17 ·

A rotary impulse sealer for forming a series of discrete bonds in a bondable material. The rotary impulse sealer has a roller rotatable about an axis. The roller has a roller body and a plurality of seal bars extending radially outwardly from the roller and spaced apart around the roller body. At least one of the seal bars has a body and a selectively heatable heating element extending along at least a part of a length of the seal bar body. The roller is rotatable through a pre-heating pressure application region in which the at least one seal bar is adapted to apply pressure to a bond area of the bondable material, followed by a heating region in which the at least one seal bar is adapted to heat the bond area, the regions being stationary with respect to the rotation of the roller. A method of forming packages containing fluid or fluent material includes continuously providing at least two sheets of bondable material having a fluid or fluent material therebetween, applying pressure to a transverse bond area of the bondable material to force the fluid or fluent material away from the transverse bond area, and heating the transverse bond area to form a seal.

Systems with external heat-seal assembly height adjustment control and related seal assemblies

Packaging apparatus for producing encased products from flat-roll stock using an external user interface (i.e., a handle that is external to a housing holding the heat seal assembly that is attached to a horizontally oriented shaft that rotates a first gear in the housing to rotate an aligned second gear in the housing or an electronic control) that is attached to and/or in communication with (directly or indirectly) a heat-seal assembly with a heat-seal contact member, such as a heat-seal band, in the housing to allow a user to adjust a vertical height of the heat-seal assembly while the apparatus is operational and/or without requiring physical access to the interior of the housing.

Method and installation for joining a cover layer to an object, as well as cover layer suitable for the method

A method and installation for joining a cover layer to an object in a continuous process. Joining is effected with the aid of a joining material having thermoplastic properties, wherein the joining material is arranged between the cover layer and the object and is liquefied using ultrasonic vibration energy. Before application of the ultrasonic vibration energy, the joining material is preheated in a contactless manner with the aid of electromagnetic induction in the region of the glass transition temperature of the joining material or above this glass transition temperature. The object is in particular a chip board and the cover layer an edge strip to be joined to an edge of the chip board.

Method and apparatus for making bag using ultrasonic sealing

A method and apparatus for making bags or pouches is disclosed. An ultrasonic sealer may be used to form the seals. Sealing patterns may be used to provide a desired strength profile.

HEAT SEALING APPARATUS

A heat seal between a plastic bag and a plastic sheet is used to provide a more secure and reliable seal to define a modified atmosphere for a pallet of perishables. The heat seal reduces atmosphere failures and aids in providing a more consistent atmosphere in the pallet bag system thus reducing the number of pallets that have an out of specification atmosphere. The heat seal may be created with a heating sealing apparatuses that is part of a system used to load and seal a load of containers of perishables onto a pallet. The heat sealing apparatus uses two heated rollers coupled to a rotating arm to contact and heat seal a plastic bag to a plastic seal that enclose a palletized load of perishables that are rotated on a turntable.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MAKING BAG USING ULTRASONIC SEALING

A method and apparatus for making bags or pouches is disclosed. An ultrasonic sealer may be used to form the seals. Sealing patterns may be used to provide a desired strength profile.

FILMS AND BAGS WITH VISUALLY DISTINCT REGIONS AND METHODS OF MAKING THE SAME

One or more implementations of a multi-layer film include a first layer non-continuously bonded to a second pigmented layer. The multi-layer film includes an unexpected appearance differing from the appearance of the pigmented layer. In one or more embodiments, the multi-layer film includes a metallic appearance despite the pigmented layer being devoid of metallic pigment. The multi-layer film also includes areas that are visually distinct from areas of the film with the unexpected appearance. The visually-distinct areas comprise areas in which the first layer non-continuously is in intimate contact with the second pigmented layer. The visually-distinct areas have the appearance of the pigmented layer or another appearance. One or more implementations also include methods of making multi-layer films and bags with an unexpected appearance and visually-distinct areas.

Automated fiber placement and in-situ fiber impregnation system and method

An automated fiber placement (AFP) and in-situ fiber impregnation system includes a feeder, a resin dispenser, and a compaction roller. The feeder feeds a tow of fiber from a fiber supply toward a forming tool. The resin dispenser deposits resin onto the forming tool in front of the compaction roller. The compaction roller moves over the tow along the forming tool so as to press the tow onto the resin such that the compaction roller impregnates the resin into the tow a direction away from the forming tool via compaction forces immediately after the resin is deposited by the resin dispenser.
