METHOD FOR MAKING BICYCLE CRANK ARM
A method for making a bicycle crank arm includes (a) providing an inner frame unit, (b) winding a first bundle of unidirectional continuous fibers on the inner frame unit to form an intersecting pattern, (c) impregnating the intersecting pattern with a curable resin material to obtain an impregnated structure, and (d) molding the impregnated structure in a mold.
COMPOSITE PANEL MATERIAL
A curable resin composition containing: (a) at least one resin; and (b) curative selected from the group consisting of (i) a mixture of at least one low temperature curative and at least one high temperature curative or (ii) a curative that has a low temperature curative part and a high temperature curative part wherein the amount of the low temperature curative is sufficient to cause enough resin-curative addition reaction to effect B-staging in the full resin-curative formulation, the amount of the high temperature curative is sufficient to cause the resin to cure catalytically but insufficient to cause resin-curative addition reaction in the final cure, and the ratio of the resin (a) to the curative (b) is greater than or equal to about 5. The present composition may be used to make prepregs for automotive or aerospace application.
MACHINERY FOR WINDING A FIBROUS TEXTURED MATERIAL, AND ASSOCIATED WINDING METHOD
A tooling for winding a fibrous fabric on a support, allowing gradual modification of the shape of the support as winding progresses, and includes compaction devices to reduce wrinkling of the fabric obtained after compaction.
Actuator for aircraft
An actuator includes: a cylinder, formed of carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP), that extends along an actuator axis between a cylinder first end and a cylinder second end, and defines a cylinder inner diameter surface; a screw shaft that extends along the actuator axis between a screw shaft first end and a screw shaft second end, that is at least partially within the cylinder, and that is operationally connected, intermediate of the screw shaft first and second ends, to the cylinder second end; a screw shaft head affixed to the screw shaft first end, that in operation rotates relative to the cylinder, and that defines a screw shaft head outer diameter surface that faces the cylinder inner diameter surface with a slip fit therebetween; and a bearing ring affixed to the screw shaft head outer diameter surface, that is formed of polyether ether ketone (PEEK).
Hybrid polymer container
The method for forming from a round shaped cylinder to a square shaped cylinder which can be inserted in a square or rectangular shape metal container (shipping container and frac tanks) includes initiating turning of a heated mandrel, extruding heated polymer, wrapping while compressing a first layer of heated polymer, disposing a mesh layer over the cylinder encapsulating the cylinder on the turning mandrel while simultaneously laying a second layer of heated polymer over the turning mandrel and compressing the layer of heated polymer into the mesh layer and the mesh layer into the first layer of heated polymer simultaneously, and repeating the layering of the heated polymer and mesh layer until a desired wall is reached. The method forms a hybrid polymer square or oval tank or a hybrid polymer round, which achieves over 95 percent of the total volume of the metal container.
Hockey blade with wrapped core
A construct for a hockey blade that includes a foam core. The foam core includes a first core face, a second core face, and a core edge. A first layer of resin preimpregnated tape is wrapped continuously around the first core face, the core edge and the second core face. A thread is placed along the first layer of preimpregnated tape. A second layer of resin preimpregnated tape wrapped continuously around the first layer of resin preimpregnated tape.
Method of producing a filament wound curved product and product obtained thereby
The invention relates to a curved product, and in particular an armor product. The armor product is produced by a filament winding process in which a plurality of reinforcing elements in the form of fibers and/or tapes are impregnated with a polymer matrix and wound onto a mandrel. The polymer matrix comprises a solution and/or dispersion of a polymer in a carrier fluid, which carrier fluid is at least partly evaporated during and/or after winding. The armor product comprises a high amount of reinforcing elements with respect to the total mass of the product.
Hockey Stick and Blade for Hockey Stick
A hockey stick apparatus may include a molded blade coupled to the proximal end of a shaft. The molded blade may include a top edge, a bottom edge, a heel, a toe, a front face opposite a back face, and a slot extending through front face and the back face. A cross section of the blade may include a variable geometry.
Three-Dimensional Structure and Method and System of Making Same
An improved three-dimensional structure and method and system of making same is provided, wherein the method for forming the three-dimensional structure comprises: coating a filament with a curable resin; directing a first portion of the coated filament around a plurality of pins fixed to and extending outwardly from a frame, the coated filament directed to intersect according to a pre-set pattern, the coated filament forming a first filament layer; directing a second portion of the coated filament about said pins forming one or more subsequent filament layers aligned and in contact with the first filament layer, the filament layers collectively forming a filament stack, the filament stack having a predetermined height and defining the intersecting panel elements; and curing the curable resin such that it hardens and retains the individual filament layers forming the filament stack in a three-dimensional shape.
Fiber reinforced plastic member for vehicle and method of producing the same
The fiber-reinforced plastic member includes a continuous variation layer which includes a synthetic resin constituting a base and a plurality of reinforcement fibers embedded in the synthetic resin, and a reinforcing layer which is attached to the continuous variation layer to constitute the fiber-reinforced plastic member for a vehicle and is composed of a synthetic resin constituting the base and a plurality of reinforcement fibers. In particular, the plurality of reinforcement fibers in the continuous variation layer are arranged so as to be inclined with respect to a longitudinal direction of the fiber-reinforced plastic member for a vehicle and angles of the reinforcement fibers with respect to the longitudinal direction of the fiber-reinforced plastic member progressively varying along the longitudinal direction and the plurality of reinforcement fibers in the reinforcing layer are embedded in the synthetic resin and intersecting each other in a reticular pattern.
