A system is provided for applying a sealing agent to an surface of an internal cavity of a pneumatic tire. The system provides for detecting the weight of the pneumatic tire before and after the application of the sealing agent to the surface, calculating the difference between the quantity of sealing agent applied to the surface and a reference quantity of sealing agent; storing the difference within a short-term memory buffer and a long-term memory buffer; determining a short-term compensation factor and a long-term compensation factor and calculating a correction factor using alternatively the short-term compensation factor or else the long-term compensation factor; and using the correction factor to actuate an applicator device during the subsequent step of applying the strip of sealing agent to the surface.

A dispense robot for applying a sealant layer on an inner surface of a tire as the tire rotates about a horizontal axis of rotation includes an articulating arm assembly including a distal arm member. A sealant nozzle may be carried by the distal arm member and configured to dispense a bead of sealant material from a nozzle tip of the sealant nozzle as the sealant nozzle moves in a traversing direction across a width of the inner surface of the rotating tire. First and second distance sensors may be located on opposite sides of the sealant nozzle and configured to view along a length of the sealant nozzle such that a distance of the nozzle tip from the inner surface of the tire is detected by the distance sensors.

A method for applying a sealing agent to a surface of an internal cavity of a pneumatic tire includes inserting an optoelectronic device into the internal cavity and rotating the tire at least 360 degrees about a first axis to acquire captured images and perform a three-dimensional surface scan of various portions of the surface that are uniformly distributed 360 degrees about the first axis, and thereby identify x, y, and z reference coordinates of various points into which each portion is divided as a function of the respective images. An interior surface profile is determined from the images and the identified reference coordinates, an applicator device including a nozzle is inserted into the internal cavity, and the applicator device is driven as a function of the identified three-dimensional reference coordinates of the entire internal cavity to maintain a constant distance between the applicator device and the surface.

A method and a system for applying a highly viscous fluid to an inner surface of a cavity of a tire, comprising an applicator device for the highly viscous fluid and a delivery circuit for the highly viscous fluid connected to the applicator device and having a highly viscous fluid collection device comprising a tank that internally defines a collection chamber; a delivery device for the highly viscous fluid implemented by means of a pumping device that delivers the highly viscous fluid to the applicator device; a movable piston that delimits the collection chamber at the perimeter; an extractor element intended to move with an alternating movement so as to draw the first highly viscous fluid inside the collection chamber and deliver it to the pumping device; and a position sensor, in particular a linear position transducer, suitable for detecting the position of the piston.

PNEUMATIC TIRE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAME

Provided is a pneumatic tire with excellent tire noise-reducing properties. The pneumatic tire includes a resonator attached to the inner periphery of the tire, the resonator including a tube with an opening, and a cavity connected to the tube.

METHOD FOR PLACING A SELF-SEALING PRODUCT ON THE INNER SURFACE OF A TIRE

The process includes a non-crosslinked self-sealing composition which is introduced into an extrusion means, the geometric and thermodynamic characteristics of which have been specially adapted. The speed and temperature conditions of the extrusion means are adjusted so that, at an application nozzle forming the outlet die of the extrusion means, the self-sealing composition is crosslinked. The application nozzle is brought close to the internal surface of the casing previously set in relative motion with respect to the application nozzle, and an extruded and crosslinked bead that has a given width and profile is deposited directly on the internal surface of the casing.
