Device for manually or mechanically producing a tubular packaging material

A device for manually or mechanically producing a tubular packaging material of a paper web is wound to form a roll, which forms an internal cavity, from which the paper web can be drawn to form packaging material. The device includes a receptacle for at least partially circumferentially encompassing the roll and an axial holder for holding an end face of the roll. The axial holder has a wall, in which a dispensing opening for dispensing the packaging material in an axial dispensing direction is formed. The wall has an inner guide contour, which tapers in a funnel-like manner in the axial dispensing direction from the receptacle to the dispensing opening. The wall is provided with at least one front axial recess at a front end of the axial holder in the axial dispensing direction.

The present invention provides void fill dispenser systems and methods that highly effectively enable the easy and usable creation of void fill with expanded slit sheet paper in a manner unattainable in the existing art. According to some illustrative embodiments, a void fill dispenser is provided that advantageously dispenses unique void fill in a manner not previously possible. In some embodiments, the void fill dispenser is made with a recyclable material, such as, e.g., a corrugated box made from paper. In some embodiments, the void fill dispenser is made with metal and/or other rigid and/or non-recyclable materials. In some embodiments, the void fill dispenser can comprise an automated metal dispensing system that dispenses expanded slit sheet paper particularly for void fill in an automated manner.

Center-fed dunnage system

A dunnage system for processing material into dunnage is herein described. A converting station of the system can include a drum having a drum surface first and second axial sides and guides protruding adjacent the drum surface on the first and second axial sides associated with the drum to rotate with the drum surface. A supply gripping member can be provided to grip a supply roll, and can include a rotatable base. A pivotal blade can be used to cut the dunnage.

A dunnage system may include a converting station including a converter configured for pulling in a stream of sheet material and converting the material into dunnage, and an inlet guide having an inlet surface that is coiled such that first and second ends of the inlet surface are discontinuous with each other to define a gap therebetween, the inlet surface configured to channel the sheet material into the converter. A cutter for a dunnage system may include a blade with first and second phases of serrations that are coextensive over at least a portion of the blade, the first phase providing cutting serrations for cutting the dunnage, and the second phase comprising ledges for focusing the cutting and preventing or reducing bunching of the dunnage towards a side of the blade. A method of converting dunnage may also be provided.

PAPER CRUMPLER AND METHOD

A paper crumpler has a dispenser with a bottom, a top, a side wall between the bottom and the top, and a cavity defined by the bottom, the top, and the side wall. A hole is formed in the top of the dispenser. A shelf is positioned within the cavity below the top of the dispenser. Uncrumpled paper is stored in the cavity beneath the shelf. An orifice is formed in the shelf. The orifice has protrusions that extend radially inward toward one another and that are configured to contact the uncrumpled paper when the uncrumpled paper is passed through the orifice from the cavity to thereby form crumpled paper above the shelf. The crumpled paper can be dispensed from the dispenser through the hole.

Apparatus, system and method for crumpling paper

An apparatus, a system and method to crumple paper from a dispenser that stores the paper on a paper roll wound around an airshaft. The paper roll sits within a dispenser, and the paper roll contacts a shelf section inside the dispenser. The paper is dispensed from the paper roll through a crumpler on the shelf section. Crumpling paper occurs by contacting a protrusion on the crumpler against the paper to crumple the paper as the paper passes through the crumpler.
