Methods of making laminated LED array and/or products including the same
In certain example embodiments, light emitting diodes (LEDs) may be disposed on a deformable and flexible backbone sheet and chained together in an array, e.g., via flexible wiggle wires. Such flexible wiggle wires may also provide an electrical connection to an external power source. An optical out-coupling layer stack (OCLS) system may help serve as an index matching layer, heat sink, tendue conserver, etc. The backbone may be formed to a shape tailored to its ultimate application. Applications may include, for example, automotive (such as Center High Mounted Stop Lamp (CHMSL) applications), lighting, signage, and/or other applications. In an example CHMSL application, the deformable sheet with the LED array thereon has a step, sinusoidal, or other shape matched to the angle and/or curvature of the glass such that the LEDs produce light primarily in a direction parallel to a surface on which a vehicle is located.
Laminated glass having areas with different refractive indices
A laminated glass capable of producing an observable pattern when edge-illuminated contains two sheets of glass adhered by an adhesive film of at least one film B containing a polyvinyl acetal PB and at least one plasticizer WB; and at least one film A or an area thereof containing a polyvinyl acetal PA and optionally at least one plasticizer WA, wherein the refractive indices of film A and film B differ by at least 0.0002.

AUTOMOTIVE LAMINATE GLAZING WITH IMPROVED OPTICAL QUALITY
The present disclosure is directed to a curved automotive laminated glazing with an opening, named cutout, in the performance plastic interlayer, such that the edges of said cutout has improved optical properties. Conventionally an opening must be provided onto the performance plastic interlayer such as UV absorbing. IR reflective or other types of solar performance interlayers to aiming to remove any optical disruptions. However, it was discovered that the geometry of the cutout in the performance interlayer plays an important role in the optical distortion measured in the center of the field of view. Therefore, the present invention suggests the use of a cutout geometry having round corners which decrease the optical distortion in the field of view by a factor of three.
