A process comprises cold-forming a flat glass substrate into a non-planar shape using a die. The cold-formed glass substrate is bonded to a non-planar rigid support structure at a plurality of non-planar points using the die. Bonding methods include injection molding the non-planar rigid support structure, and direct bonding. An article is also provided, comprising a cold-formed glass substrate having opposing major surfaces and a curved shape, the opposing major surfaces comprising a surface stress that differ from one another. The cold-formed glass substrate is attached to a rigid support structure having the curved shape. The cold-formed glass substrate includes an open region not in direct contact with the non-planar rigid support structure, and the open region has a curved shape maintained by the non-planar rigid support structure.

A glazing includes a glass sheet or a glazed assembly including at least one hole; and at least one audio exciter mounted on a mounting, wherein the mounting is inserted into the at least one hole of the glass sheet or of the glazed assembly.

ILLUMINATED LAMINATE WITH SUPERIOR AESTHETICS AND BRIGHTNESS

The trend towards increasing the glazed area in automobiles has reduced the potential locations for mounting cabin lighting. This is especially true for vehicles having large panoramic glazing. Attempts to utilize integrated light sources within the glazing have had mixed results. Embedded LEDs in the laminate tend to be too bright for night driving. Edge feed illumination with light dispersing elements on the glass to date have only been able to provide low intensity levels. Both approaches tend to reduce visibility and aesthetics in the off state. The current invention provides a means and a method to produce a laminate which provides bright cabin lighting without compromising the function of the glazing to serve as a window, by creating a light dispersing layer that is substantially invisible when in the off state and very bright in the on state.

There is provided laminated glass superior in sound insulating property and visibility. The laminated glass includes: a pair of glass plates; and an intermediate film sandwiched between the pair of glass plates. The intermediate film has a transmitting region and a shielding region. The transmitting region has a skin layer having a glass transition point of 15° C. or higher and a core layer having a glass transition point of lower than 15° C. alternately laminated. The number of the core layers is two or more in the transmitting region. The shielding region is provided at peripheries of the pair of glass plates and has a visible light transmittance of 3% or less.

Laminted glass assembly

Cracking of a laminated glass assembly having a device encapsulated therein during the manufacturing process is prevented. The laminated glass assembly includes a first and a second glass sheet; a first, a second and a third intermediate film interposed between the first and second glass sheets, in that order; an organic EL panel interposed between the first and second intermediate films and provided with a terminal member; and a first wiring member consisting of a metallic thin strip connected to the terminal member in a thickness-wise direction via a first solder; wherein at least one of the two glass sheets has a thickness of 1.0 mm to 1.6 mm; and at a connecting portion of the terminal member, the first solder and the first wiring member, the first wiring member has a thickness of 0.05 mm to 0.10 mm and a width of 3 mm to 15 mm, and the first solder has a thickness of 0.01 mm to 0.20 mm; and a total thickness of the terminal member, the first solder and the first wiring member is 0.16 mm to 0.40 mm.

OBSCURATION HAVING SUPERIOR STRENGTH AND OPTICAL QUALITY FOR AN AUTOMOTIVE LAMINATE

The object of this invention is to provide a laminated automotive glazing having an obscuration area produced by printing the obscuration on a film laminated between at least two layers of plastic interlayers or directly on the interlayer rather than printing and firing an enamel frit onto the glass.
