TMPRSS KNOCKOUT SWINE HAVING A REDUCED SUSCEPTIBILITY TO INFLUENZA
20240000052 · 2024-01-04 ·

Genetically modified transgenic pigs or pig cells having at least one knocked out Transmembrane protease, serine (TMPRSS) gene. Expression of functional gene products of the at least one knocked out TMPRSS gene in the genetically modified transgenic pig or pig cells is reduced as compared to the non-genetically modified pig or pig cells. The at least one TMPRSS gene can be knocked out using CRISPR/Cas systems.

Genetically modified mouse whose genome comprises a humanized CD274 gene

Non-human animals, methods and compositions for making and using the same, are provided, wherein said non-human animals comprise a humanization of a Cluster of Differentiation 274 (CD274) gene. Such non-human animals may be described, in some embodiments, as having a genetic modification to an endogenous CD274 gene so that said non-human animals express a Programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) polypeptide that includes a human portion and an endogenous portion (e.g., a non-human portion).

POPULATION CONTROL USING ENGINEERED TRANSLOCATIONS
20200404892 · 2020-12-31 ·

Embodiments provided herein relate to systems for synthetically-engineered reciprocal chromosomal translocation for gene insertion into a population of organisms such as insects.

A SELF-LIMITING, SEX-SPECIFIC GENE AND METHODS OF USING

The invention provides a splice control module for sex-specific splicing and expression of a gene of interest. In certain embodiments, a dsx-based splice control module is used to express a lethal gene in an insect that is spliced in a sex-specific manner to impart lethality to female insects but not male insects.

METHODS FOR GENERATING GENETICALLY MODIFIED ANIMALS
20200404891 · 2020-12-31 ·

The present disclosure provides methods of generating multiplexed genetically modified animals, for example, porcine endogenous retrovirus (PERV)-inactivated pigs. The disclosure also provides methods of improving the birth rate of multiplexed genetically modified animals. In some embodiments, the present closure is concerned with the generation and utilization of porcine cells in which porcine endogenous retroviral (PERV) elements have been inactivated. In sonic embodiments, the PERV-free or PERV-reduced porcine cells are cloned to produce porcine embryos. In some embodiments, the PERV-free or PERV-reduced embryos may be grown into adult swine from which organs and/or tissues may be extracted and used for such purposes as xenotransplantation into non-porcine animals such as humans.

BLUE TRANSGENIC FLUORESCENT ORNAMENTAL FISH
20200396972 · 2020-12-24 ·

The present invention relates to transgenic blue ornamental fish, as well as methods of making such fish by in vitro fertilization techniques. Also disclosed are methods of establishing a population of such transgenic fish and methods of providing them to the ornamental fish industry for the purpose of marketing.

MATERIALS AND METHODS FOR PREVENTING TRANSMISSION OF A PARTICULAR CHROMOSOME
20200399661 · 2020-12-24 · ·

Provided herein are material and methods for changing gene expression in select sex chromosomes. The materials and methods of the subject invention can be used to produce non-human transgenic animals that produce progeny of a predetermined gender and to generate non-human transgenic animals that produce single-sexed semen.

The disclosure relates to Bovine germplasm of Bos taurus variety JE840003146074527. Included in the present disclosure are cells comprising the Bovine variety JE840003146074527. Also provided by the present disclosure are tissue cultures of cells, animals obtained from said cells, and parts thereof, including F1 spermatozoa. The disclosure further provides for methods of breeding, selecting, and using the germplasm to improve existing commercial cattle herds generated from in vitro fertilization methods and progeny cattle obtained from in vitro fertilization and implantation and artificial insemination methods.

Factor VII Composition Having a Substantially Homogeneous Isoelectric Point

The present invention relates to a factor VII composition having a substantially homogeneous isoelectric point and to a method for formulating such a composition. The present invention also relates to the therapeutic use of a factor VII composition having a substantially homogeneous isoelectric point.

Pathogen-resistant animals having modified CD163 genes

Non-human animals and offspring thereof comprising at least one modified chromosomal sequence in a gene encoding a CD163 protein are provided. Animal cells that contain such modified chromosomal sequences are also provided. The animals and cells have increased resistance to pathogens, including porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV). The animals and offspring have chromosomal modifications of a CD163 gene. The invention further relates to methods of breeding to create pathogen-resistant animals and populations of animals made using such methods.
