SELECTIONS OF CORRECTION PROCESSES FOR PRINTING DEVICES

In some examples, a system detects an error in an printing device, and selects a combination of a medium advance error correction process to address a medium advance error and a faulty nozzle correction process to address a faulty nozzle, where the selecting of the combination is from a plurality of different combinations of the medium advance error correction process and the faulty nozzle correction process, and the selecting is based on a criterion relating to an interaction between the medium advance error and faulty nozzle correction processes.

OPTIMIZED PRINTING DEFECT COMPENSATION USING AUTOMATIC JOB IMAGE REPOSITIONING

A processor identifies print defect locations where printing defects occur and a assigns different sensitivity values to different zones of a job image being prepared for printing by a printing engine. The processor changes the orientation of the job image to a revised orientation, relative to print media, to avoid locating one or more high-sensitivity zones of the job image in the print defect locations. The high-sensitivity zones are ones of the zones having a sensitivity value above a threshold sensitivity value. The printing engine prints the job image on the print media at the revised orientation.

DROP-BASED REMEDIAL ACTIONS FOR A PRINTHEAD

In one example in accordance with the present disclosure, a method, system, and non-transitory machine-readable storage medium are described. A drop characteristic measurement of a drop of print fluid ejected from a printhead is detected. The drop characteristic measurement includes at least one of a drop velocity and a drop weight. The drop characteristic measurement is compared against a threshold value. When the drop characteristic measurement is beyond the threshold value, a remedial action is triggered.

INKJET PRINTING APPARATUS AND PRINT METHOD

An inkjet printing apparatus is configured to print the image in N (N is an integer of four or more) print scanning operations of a print head for a unit region of the print medium by using N mask patterns used in the N print scanning operations. The inkjet printing apparatus includes: an obtaining unit configured to obtain defective nozzle information specifying a defective nozzle; and a correction unit configured to divide the N mask patterns into mask groups each corresponding to two or more print scanning operations and correct the mask patterns based on the defective nozzle information in each of the divided mask groups.

An object is to enable highly accurate density unevenness correction while suppressing a reduction in productivity of printing accompanying correction value calculation for density unevenness correction. In the image processing apparatus, density correction information that specifies an output tone value for implementing a target density for an input tone value for each nozzle and which does not include the influence by a non-ejectable nozzle that cannot eject ink normally is acquired. In a case where a non-ejectable nozzle is detected during printing processing, output tone values corresponding to the detected non-ejectable nozzle and peripheral nozzles thereof among output tone values specified in the density correction information are changed.

In image forming apparatus, a recording head is configured to eject ink corresponding to an image to be printed, using arranged nozzles. A control unit is configured to determine nozzles corresponding to the image to be printed, correspondingly to a position of a print sheet, and cause the recording head to eject ink from the nozzles. A correction processing unit is configured to perform a correction process corresponding to each of the plural ink ejection malfunction positions in the image. A head cleaning processing unit is configured to perform head cleaning for the recording head. Further, if the number of the detected ink ejection malfunction positions exceeds a predetermined upperlimit value when using a predetermined ink droplet size, the correction processing unit causes the head cleaning processing unit to perform head cleaning for the recording head and thereby decreases the number of the ink ejection malfunction positions.

Provided is a method for determining print paths to be applied when ink is ejected to a substrate. The method for determining the print paths includes a substrate information receiving step of receiving substrate information of the substrate, a head information receiving step of receiving head information of a head that ejects the ink, and a print path determining step of determining the print paths based on the substrate information and the head information, in which in the print path determining step, the smallest number of print paths satisfying a target printing condition for the substrate may be determined.

Provided are a defect inspection device, a defect inspection method, and a program, and a printing device and a method of manufacturing a printed matter, in which a defect of a printed matter is inspected by performing registration between reference data and imaging data of the printed matter printed on the basis of the reference data with high accuracy at high speed. The reference data and the imaging data of the printed matter printed on the basis of the reference data by a single-pass type printing device that includes an inkjet head having a plurality of nozzles disposed in a nozzle direction are acquired, registration between the imaging data and the reference data in the nozzle direction is performed by using nozzle mapping information indicating a correspondence relationship between positions of the plurality of nozzles and pixel positions of the imaging data in the nozzle direction, and a defect of the printed matter is inspected in response to an input of the imaging data and the reference data that have been subjected to registration.

A recording apparatus includes a recording head that has a plurality of nozzles that eject liquid onto a medium and a control section that controls an ejection of liquid by the recording head, wherein the control section controls the recording head to record a plurality of first patterns having mutually different densities on the medium in a intersecting direction that intersects a nozzle alignment direction in which the nozzles are arranged, and to record a plurality of second patterns for identifying positions of the nozzles in the nozzle alignment direction on the medium in the intersecting direction such that each of the plurality of first patterns is adjacent to the second patterns on at least one of one end side and the other end side in the intersecting direction.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PRINTING COLOR IMAGES ON SUBSTRATES IN AN INKJET PRINTER

A method of operating a printer distributes inkjet operations from frequently used inkjets to lesser used inkjets. The redistribution of the inkjet operations helps reduce the number of inkjets exhibiting cross-process direction error so printhead maintenance operations, such as purging, occur less frequently.
