A carriage apparatus includes a carriage configured to reciprocally move in a predetermined direction, a first motor arranged on a side of one end of a range of movement of the carriage and configured to drive the carriage, a second motor arranged on a side of the other end of the range of movement of the carriage, configured to drive the carriage, and having the same kind of driving characteristics as driving characteristics of the first motor, a detector for detecting a position of the carriage related to the predetermined direction, and a controller for controlling driving of the first motor and the second motor by feeding back a detection result detected by the detector.

A printing device includes a head including a nozzle configured to eject ink, a platen configured to support a printing medium to which a pretreatment liquid is applied, the pretreatment liquid containing a volatile component that reacts with the ink, and a controller configured to cause the head to perform an ejection drive that causes the nozzle to eject the ink and a non-ejection drive that causes the nozzle not to eject the ink, and cause the head to perform the non-ejection drive in at least a part of a period other than an ejection period in which the head performs the ejection drive to cause the nozzle to eject the ink toward the printing medium, in a case where the head and the printing medium face each other.

A position measuring device and a position measuring method for accurately measuring a position of a movable member using a plurality of linear scales are provided. The position measuring device comprises a first linear scale elongated in a first direction, a second linear scale elongated in the first direction and separated from the first linear scale, and a head structure including a first scale head and a second scale head that are spaced apart from each other, wherein the head structure reads the first linear scale or the second linear scale while moving in the first direction, wherein the first scale head and the second scale head are activated or deactivated opposite to each other.
Recording device
The recording device includes an elongated member 79 and a housing section 60. The housing section 60 houses the elongated member 79, and has a fixed end 61, a moving end, and an elongated variable section. A curved portion, which is a portion where the variable section is folded back on the way, moves following the movement of the carriage. In the height direction HD of the housing section 60, film member 76 having flexibility is disposed between the elongated member 79 and the housing section 60. A coefficient of friction between the film member 76 and the elongated member 79 is smaller than a coefficient of friction between the housing section 60 and the elongated member 79.

There is provided a liquid discharge apparatus including: a head including a nozzle configured to discharge a liquid, an instruction-input section configured to accept an instruction from the user, and a controller. The controller is configured to execute: determining whether an instruction input from the instruction-input section is an instruction to execute a first recovery process in which a liquid consumption is greater than a first threshold amount; determining whether an execution condition for the first recovery process is met, in response that the instruction input from the instruction-input section is the instruction to execute the first recovery process; executing the first recovery process, in response that the execution condition for the first recovery process is met; and skipping the first recovery process, in response that the execution condition for the first recovery process is not met.

An image forming system including: a head; a carriage moving mechanism including a carriage, a motor, and a transmission; a motor driver; an encoder; and a controller is provided. The controller is configured to: identify, regarding a certain period being each of the plurality of periods, an index value regarding abnormality of the image forming system based on time series data of a moving velocity, a physical amount related to the moving velocity, or an operation amount observed in a moving control of the carriage in the certain period; and determine an end of a service life of the image forming system or a remaining amount of the service life of the image forming system based on a change of the index value over the plurality of periods.
