Tyre with lightened belt structure including steel monofilaments
A radial tire includes a crown reinforcement or belt having a lightened belt structure. The lightened belt structure is constructed of a multilayer composite laminate that includes a first layer of rubber that radially surmounts, in a direction Z, two other layers of rubber. The first layer of rubber is reinforced with first reinforcers, which are circumferential heat-shrinkable polyester textile reinforcers. The two other layers of rubber are reinforced with second and third reinforcers, which are monofilaments of high tensile steel. The first reinforcers have a diameter between 0.40 mm and 0.70 mm and a density between 70 and 130 threads/dm, and the second and third reinforcers have a diameter between 0.20 mm and 0.50 mm and a density between 120 and 180 threads/dm.
AIRLESS TIRE
An airless tire includes a tread ring, a hub formed on radial direction inner side of the ring to be fixed to an axle, and a spoke structure connecting the ring and hub. The ring includes a tread rubber layer, a first reinforcing cord layer, a second reinforcing cord layer and a shear rubber layer between the first and second cord layers, the first and second cord layers and shear layer are formed such that ratio Eb.sub.1/Ee between tire circumferential direction tensile modulus Eb.sub.1 of the first cord layer and shear modulus Ee of the shear layer is 100 or greater and that ratio Eb.sub.2/Ee between tire circumferential direction tensile modulus Eb.sub.2 of the second cord layer and shear modulus Ee is 100 or greater, and each cord layer has a topping rubber having loss tangent tan b of 0.03 to 0.10 and tensile modulus E*b of 4 to 20 MPa.
MULTI-COMPOSITE PLANAR REINFORCEMENT
A flat or planar reinforcer shaped as a multicomposite strip (R1), which is defined by three main perpendicular directions: an axial direction (X), a transverse direction (Y), and a radial direction (Z), has a width L.sub.R in the Y direction of between 2 and 100 mm, and has a thickness E.sub.R in the Z direction of between 0.1 and 5 mm. A ratio L.sub.R/E.sub.R is greater than 3. The multicomposite strip includes a plurality of monofilaments made of a composite material. The monofilaments are oriented along the X direction and include filaments of a mineral material embedded in a thermoset resin having a glass transition temperature Tg.sub.1 that is greater than 70 C. The monofilaments are coated in a layer of thermoplastic material. The reinforcer may be used to reinforce a tire and a multilayer laminate, which may be used to reinforce a tire.
Pneumatic tire
A pneumatic tire comprises a tread portion provided with a band layer disposed radially inside a tread rubber provided with a first circumferential groove. Cords of the band layer are a hybrid cord formed by twisting together a first filament and a second filament having an elastic modulus lower than that of the first filament. In a region radially inside the first circumferential groove, a maximum thickness t1 of topping rubber on the radially outer side of the band cords is not more than 1.0 mm; a minimum distance d1 from the bottom of the first circumferential groove to the radially outer surface of the band layer is not more than 2.0 mm; and a distance d2 from a groove edge of the first circumferential groove to the radially outer surface of the band layer is not more than 15.0 mm.
Rubber reinforcing material with reduced weight, method of preparing the same, and tire comprising the same
This invention relates to rubber reinforcing material with reduced weight, a method for preparing the same, and a tire including the same. According to this invention, there is provided a rubber reinforcing material that has a thin thickness and light weight, and yet has excellent durability. The reinforcing material not only reduces the weight of a tire, but also enables realization of improved rolling resistance.
