The radial tire includes: a pair of parallel bead cores; at least one radial carcass ply wound around the bead cores; one or more inclined belt layers layered on the outer circumference of the carcass ply; and one or more cap ply layers layered in the circumferential direction of a tire on the outer circumference of the inclined belt layers, wherein the cap ply includes a dip cord manufactured using a yarn comprising 90 mol % or more of polyethylene terephthalate, and the dip cord has a shrinkage of 3.0-4.0%, a strength of 2.5-3.0 g/d at an elongation of 5%, a breaking strength of 6.5-7.5 g/d, and a dimensional stability index of 5.8-6.5.

Radial tire having a very thin belt structure

A radial tire, notably for a passenger vehicle or van, has a very thin belt structure comprising a multilayer composite laminate of specific construction, with a first layer of rubber reinforced by circumferential textile reinforcers in the form of monofilaments or assemblies of monofilaments, preferably slightly heat-shrinkable, for example made of nylon or of polyester, this first layer radially (in the direction Z) surmounting two other layers of rubber, reinforced by high-strength steel monofilaments. The mean thickness of rubber, measured in the radial direction (Z), separating a first reinforcer from the second reinforcer which is closest to it, and that separating a second reinforcer from the third reinforcer which is closest to it, are both less than or at most equal to 0.35 mm.

This invention relates to a passenger car tire comprising a carcass having at least one carcass ply, a tread disposed radially outward of a crown region of the carcass, a belt with a plurality of belt plies arranged between the carcass and the tread, and an overlay structure covering the belt and comprising a helically wound overlay ply strip reinforced by at least one textile cord. The cord comprises from 6 to 10 polyamide monofilament plies having each a density from 300 to 470 dtex, wherein the monofilament plies are twisted together by between 1 and 2 twists per inch to form the cord.

TIRE AND A RUBBER PLY FOR A TIRE

The present invention is directed to a rubber ply for a tire, the rubber ply comprising pairs of textile cords arranged in parallel in a plane, wherein each cord of the pairs of textile cords comprises two cord plies. The distance between two adjacent pairs of textile cords (d.sub.p) is at least 5 times larger than the distance between two parallel textile cords (d.sub.i) within a pair of textile cords, and wherein the two cord plies in one or more of the textile cords are twisted together in a range from 8 TPI to 12 TPI and have each a density ranging from 500 dtex to 2000 dtex. The present invention is also directed to a tire comprising such a rubber ply which is particularly applicable and beneficial for utilization in motorcycle tires.
