TPMS sensor autolocation through low frequency programming
In order to mitigate a need for reprogramming tire pressure sensors after tire rotation, tire change, etc., all sensors on a vehicle are preprogrammed with a lookup table that correlates modulation frequency to axle and wheel end positions on the vehicle. Dual antenna initiator coils are mounted to a vehicle such that each wheel end has one directional antenna directed toward it. Each initiator coil is programmed to modulate its transmission frequency by a predetermined modulation frequency such that each antenna transmits using a different modulation frequency. Each sensor receives a modulated signal, identifies the modulation frequency, and performs a table lookup to determine its axle and wheel end location. The sensor transmits its identified wheel end and axle location to a controller unit along with tire pressure status information for its wheel.
VEHICLE WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION DETERMINATION
Techniques are described for determining weight distribution of a vehicle. A method of performing autonomous driving operation includes determining a vehicle weight distribution that values for each axle of the vehicle that describe weight or pressure applied on a respective axle. The values of the vehicle weight distribution are determined by removing at least one value that is outside a range of pre-determined values from a set of sensor values. The method further includes determining a driving-related operation of the vehicle weight distribution. For example, the driving-related operation may include determining a braking amount for each axle and/or determining a maximum steering angle to operate the vehicle. The method further includes controlling one or more subsystems in the vehicle via an instruction related to the driving-related operation. For example, transmitting the instruction to the one or more subsystems causes the vehicle to perform the driving-related operation.
Tire pressure sensor identification method and related apparatus and system
The present invention discloses a tire pressure sensor identification method, a related apparatus and system. A tire pressure sensor identification apparatus in the present invention includes a storage module configured to store identity information of a tire pressure sensor, a communications module configured to communicate with an electronic control unit (ECU) of a vehicle, a processing module and a radio frequency transmission module configured to output identity information. The tire pressure sensor identification apparatus may output the stored identity information to a corresponding vehicle, so that the vehicle can still identify the tire pressure sensor even if the tire pressure sensor is not in an activated state. It is convenient for a user to perform a uniform identification operation after uniformly collecting the identity information, thereby improving identification efficiency of the tire pressure sensor. A tire pressure sensor identification system and a corresponding tire pressure sensor identification method adopting the tire pressure sensor identification apparatus also have a same technical effect.
Method and system for determining a rotation angle of at least one wheel of a vehicle
A rotation angle of at least one wheel of a vehicle is determined during an operation of the vehicle. The method includes acquiring a plurality of pressure values of a tire pressure of the at least one wheel by way of a tire pressure sensor, and determining a rotation angle of the at least one wheel by determining a change of the pressure of the tire based on the acquired plurality of pressure values.

The in-vehicle reporting apparatus stores a mounting position of each tire in association with identification information identifying the tire, a vehicle height acquisition unit acquires a vehicle height of the vehicle, a vehicle height determination unit determines whether the vehicle height is greater than or equal to a predetermined height, and a reporting unit reports information that depends on the mounting position of a tire stored in the storage unit in association with acquired identification information and on acquired air pressure information of the tire when the acquired vehicle height is not greater than or equal to the predetermined height, and does not report information that depends on the mounting position of the tire, when the acquired vehicle height is greater than or equal to the predetermined height.
Method for pairing a measurement module mounted in a motor vehicle wheel, at the initiative of a computer
A method for pairing a measurement module with a wheel of a vehicle including, for each angular orientation signal associated with a specific wheel received by a computer, the steps of transmitting, by the computer, a measurement signal or a request to transmit a measurement signal to each module, measuring, by the computer or each module, a value of at least one parameter differentiating the signal, performing repetitions of the transmissions of measurement signals for each angular orientation signal received by the computer and storing values of the parameter, pairing a specific wheel with a measurement module when the values are substantially constant with a variation of less than 10% for the values, each wheel being associated with a module at the end of the method.
AIR PRESSURE ABNORMALITY DETERMINATION SYSTEM AND AIR PRESSURE ABNORMALITY DETERMINATION METHOD
An air pressure abnormality determination system determines whether an air pressure abnormality in which an air pressure of at least one of multiple front tires and multiple rear tires drops. The front tires are front wheels of a vehicle. The rear tires are rear wheels of the vehicle and of which outer diameter is different from an outer diameter of the front tires. A determination is made on whether the air pressure abnormality occurs using a corrected wheel speed obtained by correcting one of a front wheel speed that is a wheel speed of the front wheels and a rear wheel speed that is a wheel speed of the rear wheels based on the outer diameter of the front tires and the outer diameter of the rear tires and an uncorrected wheel speed that is the other of the front wheel speed and the rear wheel speed that is uncorrected.
Auto tire localization systems and methods utilizing a TPMS angular position index
Embodiments relate to tire localization systems and methods for tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS). In embodiments, a tire pressure management system comprises a wheel speed sensor (WSS), a tire pressure sensor (TPS) that can comprise circuitry and/or sensors configured to measure or record tire pressure data and TPS phase data, and an electronic control unit (ECU) that can comprise circuitry and/or sensors configured to process the speed sensor data and TPS data. TPMS systems and methods utilize a reference position index transmitted by the TPS to determine a constant value pattern of WSS data representative of a specific tire in order to localize the set of tires.
