Methods and systems are provided for warming vehicle tires prior to a vehicle launch event. In one example, a method may include, in response to an initiation of a burn out event while locking non-driven wheel brakes, adjusting a spinning of driven wheels based on vehicle performance parameters measured during a previous vehicle launch. In this way, a vehicle controller may control the tire warming to increase tire traction while reducing tire wear.

A method of monitoring the pressure of a tire of an aircraft, the method including: taking two or more pressure readings from the tire at different times; calculating an estimated deflation rate based on the pressure readings; and calculating a time for the tire to deflate to a reference pressure level based on the estimated deflation rate. Two or more temperature readings are each associated with one of the pressure readings, and the estimated deflation rate is calculated by normalising each pressure reading based on its associated temperature reading and a common reference temperature to obtain a temperature-normalised pressure reading, and calculating the estimated deflation rate based on the temperature-normalised pressure readings. The estimated deflation rate is compared with a threshold, and a warning provided if the estimated deflation rate exceeds the threshold.

A system for detecting leaks of tires of a vehicle is provided that includes sensors that measure pressure and temperature of the tires. The system has a processor that obtains the data from the sensors and detects a leak of one of the tires by using a natural leak model and/or a damage comparison model. The natural leak model uses temperature measurements of the tires to detect leakage of the tire which can be a slow leak of the tire. The damage comparison model detects leakage of the tire by comparing it to other tires on the vehicle.

MODULAR TIRE PRESSURE LEAK DETECTION SYSTEM

A modular tire pressure leak detection system includes a tire that supports a vehicle and a sensor unit mounted on the tire. The sensor unit detects real-time tire parameters inside the tire and transmits the parameters to a processor. A plurality of modules are in electronic communication with the processor. The plurality of modules include a pre-processing module that receives the parameters and applies a set of operations to generate pressure time series data, a leak detection module that receives the pressure time series data and determines a leak rate of the tire, and a post-processing module that receives the leak rate of the tire and analyzes the leak rate of the tire with determinations from a plurality of conditions. A leak alert is issued by the post-processing module based upon the analysis of the leak rate of the tire and the determinations from the plurality of conditions.
