VEHICLE-BODY STRUCTURE OF VEHICLE

A vehicle-body structure of a vehicle comprises a front side door provided so as to open and close an opening portion for entrance which is formed by a vehicle-body frame member. The front side door comprises a door panel portion and reinforcement portions provided at a peripheral part of the door panel portion such that at least part of the reinforcement portions overlaps with the vehicle-body frame member in a vehicle side view, the reinforcement portions being configured to reinforce the door panel portion such that when a collision load is inputted to the front side door in a vehicle side collision, a connection state of the door panel portion and the vehicle-body frame member is maintained.

To improve bending rigidity of a side sill against an inward load in a vehicle width direction during a lateral collision while suppressing a weight increase of the side sill, a vehicle side body structure includes: a side sill; a wheel house, a front lower portion; a center pillar; and a door formed to be opened at a position above the side sill and behind the center pillar. A rear portion of an impact bar provided to the door overlaps the rear portion of the side sill in side view when the door is closed. The side sill includes a reinforcing member reinforcing bending rigidity against an inward load. The side sill reinforcing member is provided in an intermediate portion of the side sill where the center pillar is located and the rear portion of the side sill in a longitudinal direction of the side sill.

A motor vehicle with at least one vehicle door includes a reinforcement component arranged in the lower section of the door body of the vehicle door. The reinforcement component is an open profile with lateral walls and an M-profile formed thereon which extend in the vehicle transverse direction in order to absorb forces acting in the vehicle transverse direction in the event of a load.

Door assemblies and vehicles including outer and inner bulkheads to transfer a side impact load to a pillar structure and methods incorporating the same

A door assembly, of a vehicle that includes a first pillar structure and a second pillar structure, includes a door outer panel, a door inner panel coupled to and positioned inwardly of the door outer panel, and an impact beam positioned between the door outer panel and the door inner panel. The door impact beam includes a first end and an opposite second end, the first end overlaps the first pillar structure and the second end overlaps the second pillar structure. The door assembly further includes an inner bulkhead coupled to the door inner panel and positioned between the door inner panel and the first end of the impact beam, and an outer bulkhead coupled to the door inner panel and positioned between the inner bulkhead and the first end of the impact beam, the outer bulkhead overlaps a portion of the inner bulkhead.

VEHICLE DOOR ASSEMBLY

An outer door panel and an inner door panel are fixed to one another defining a cavity therebetween. A door handle assembly is fixedly attached to the outer door panel, with at least a portion of the door handle assembly overlaying an inboard surface of the outer door panel within the cavity. An inboard portion of the door handle assembly has a connection structure. An upwardly extending bracket within the cavity is fixed to an upper end and a lower end of at least one of the inner door panel or the outer door panel. The upwardly extending bracket is spaced apart from the door handle assembly. A vibration absorbing member has a first end fixed to the connection structure of the door handle assembly and a second end attached to the upwardly extending bracket at a location spaced apart from upper and lower ends of the upwardly extending bracket.

Door assembly with collapsible carrier

A door assembly for a motor vehicle comprised of an outer door panel and an inner door panel interconnected to define a door panel structure having an internal door cavity. A collapsible carrier module is configured to be oriented in a collapsed arrangement to facilitate installation into the door cavity through an opening in the inner door panel. The collapsible carrier module can be moved from its collapsed arrangement into an expanded arrangement upon installation within the door cavity to facilitate subsequent mounting to the door panel structure. The collapsible carrier module includes a two-piece carrier plate formed to integrally include a pair of laterally-spaced glass run channels and a pair of laterally-spaced slider rails.

A collision damage reduction device to be applied to a vehicle provided with a door and a side sill includes an airbag and a door beam. The airbag is deployed from a container disposed on a lower side of the door to a region on a vehicle-widthwise outside of the door. The airbag includes a first air chamber and a second air chamber. After being deployed, the first air chamber has an upper end disposed higher than the door beam and a lower end disposed lower than an upper end of the side sill, at least within a range in which its position in a vehicle front-rear direction overlaps with a seating surface of a seat. The second air chamber extends across a lower part of the first air chamber and the container, and has a lower internal pressure than the first air chamber after being deployed.
