A locking mechanism includes a housing, a cam disposed within the housing, and a plurality of pawls disposed within the housing. The housing includes a first plate and a second plate received by the first plate. The second plate includes a peripheral lip having an interior face that defines a plurality of teeth. Each of the plurality of pawls include first teeth positioned at opposing ends thereof and second teeth positioned between the first teeth. Each of the first teeth have a first flat face and a second flat face. The first teeth have a different profile than the second teeth. The cam is configured to engage with the plurality of pawls to reposition the plurality of pawls from a first position where the plurality of pawls do not engage with the second plate and a second position where the plurality of pawls engage with the second plate.

A locking mechanism includes a plate and a pawl. The plate includes a peripheral lip having an interior face that defines a plurality of teeth. The pawl defines a central axis and includes a plurality of pawl teeth including a first middle tooth and a second middle tooth. The first middle tooth is positioned on a first side of the central axis and has a first flat face facing the central axis and a first curved face facing away from the central axis. The second middle tooth is positioned on an opposing second side of the central axis and has a second flat face facing the central axis and a second curved face facing away from the central axis. The pawl is positionable between (i) a first position where the pawl does not engage with the plate and (ii) a second position where the pawl engages with the plate.

The invention relates to a latching fitting (10), in particular for a seat of a motor vehicle. The latching fitting (10) comprises a base plate (20), a cover plate (30), at least one blocking arm (40, 140) and an actuating plate (50). The cover plate (30) is rotatable relative to the base plate (20) and has an internal toothing (31). The blocking arm (40, 140) is arranged on the base plate (20) and is pivotable between an unlocked position, in which rotation of the cover plate (30) relative to the base plate (20) is possible, and a locked position, in which rotation of the cover plate (30) relative to the base plate (20) is blocked. The actuating plate (50) is rotatable relative to the base plate (20) and shifts the blocking arm (40, 140) between the unlocked position and the locked position. The internal toothing (31) has first blocking teeth (34) which have a vertex (35) and which are formed asymmetrically with respect to a radial axis (A) which runs through the vertex (35). The blocking arm (40, 140) has second blocking teeth (44) which are adapted for meshing with the first blocking teeth (34).

Rotation of a deflecting element (120) moves a transfer element (130) such that the second segment (150) is not rotated about the first axis (A). Changing a distance between the first axis (A) and a second axis allows the second segment (150) to be rotated about the first axis by the transfer element (130). A vehicle seat includes such an actuating device (100).
