Moving seats in a vehicle to enhance occupant protection

The disclosure provides for a system. The system may include a rotational control system configured to rotate a seat of a vehicle, and one or more computing devices. The one or more computing devices may have one or more processors that are configured to determine that an impact is imminent at a location on the vehicle along a collision axis. A most favorable orientation may be determined by the one or more processors based on the determined location and collision axis. Using the rotational control system, the one or more processors may rotate the seat of the vehicle to the most favorable orientation in order to reduce risks of serious injury to a passenger in the seat caused by the imminent impact. A translational control system may be used by the one or more processors to translate the seat of the vehicle to a position relative to the determined location.

A vehicle seat includes a pressure-receiving member disposed rearwardly of an occupant between left and right side frames, and a rocking mechanism configured to cause a left side or a right side of the pressure-receiving member to move frontward and rearward. The rocking mechanism includes a first link member provided pivotally, a second link member provided pivotally on the first link member and pivotally connected to the pressure-receiving member, and an actuator configured to cause the first link member and the second link member to pivot.

Vehicle rear seat frame and vehicle

An object is to provide a vehicle rear seat frame wherein impact caused by a housed seat toward the vehicle front is mitigated in a case of rear-end collision. Seat cushion side frames are disposed on both ends, with respect to the vehicle lateral direction, of a seat cushion frame, and include first weak portions having less strength than other portions in the vehicle longitudinal direction in a folded state. Seat back side frames disposed on both ends, with respect to the vehicle lateral direction, of a seat back frame include second weak portions having less strength than other portions in the vehicle longitudinal direction in a folded state.

SEAT BACK STRUCTURE

A seat back structure includes, a seat back frame which includes a panel material and a frame material joined with the panel material; a side frame which is included in the frame material and which is positioned in at least one edge side in a width direction of the panel material; and a first vulnerable portion which is formed in the side frame and which deforms when a load from an impact is applied. The first vulnerable portion is a slit formed by cutting out the side frame in a horizontal direction.

A seating system for a vehicle includes a seat frame having a lower part for supporting a posterior and thighs of an occupant and a rear part for supporting the posterior and back of the occupant. The seating system also includes a hinge connecting the seat frame to the vehicle such that, in the event of an impact to the vehicle from the rear of the occupant, the weight of the occupant urges the seat frame to rotate in a direction that results in a top portion of the rear part being urged to move in a rearward direction relative to the occupant. The seating system also includes a first structure fixed to the rear part and configured to cooperate with a second structure fixed to the vehicle to reduce forces transmitted to the occupant in the event of an impact to the vehicle.

A vehicle seat and safety assembly includes a seat cushion, a seatback, and a wraparound seatbelt system to restrain an occupant in rear, side and rollover crashes. The seat cushion is connected to a vehicle floor. The seatback is connected to the seat cushion. The wraparound belt has a first strap end, a second strap end, and a strap, net or supporting body extending between the first strap end and the second strap end to direct restraining forces from an occupant through the seat to the vehicle floor or structure. The strap, net, or supporting body extends at least partially through or is integrated with the seatback and may incorporate pretensioning, load-limiting and other features to increase and control occupant restraint in non-frontal crashes.

Vehicle seat

A seat back pad 70 has a groove 73 for tucking a skin material therein, formed at borders between a central portion 71 and side portions 72. A hole (slot hole 74) is formed in a bottom of the groove 73 along the groove 73. A tuck-in wire 76 for tucking the skin material in includes a plurality of tuck-in portions 76A provided along the groove 73, and a connecting portion (detour portion 76B) detouring around the hole and connecting the tuck-in portions 76A. With this configuration, when an upper body of an occupant P subsides into a seat back S2 in a rear-end collision of a vehicle, the central portion 71, defined by the groove 73 as a border, is easily and sufficiently moved rearward relative to the left and right side portions 72. Furthermore, the tuck-in wire 76 is not exposed through the hole, and thus adhesion between the seat back pad 70 and the tuck-in wire 76 can be improved.
