[Problem] To provide a side airbag apparatus capable of quickly and properly restraining a passenger in the initial stage of deploying an airbag, along with a passenger protection apparatus including this side airbag apparatus. [Resolution means] The airbag employed in the present invention includes: a first chamber (C1) which houses the inflator and is deployed outside in the vehicle width direction of the frame side wall part; a second chamber (C2) which is deployed inside in the vehicle width direction of the frame side wall part; and a gas guide (100) arranged so as to surround the inflator inside the first chamber. In addition, the first chamber (C1) is deployed such that at least a portion thereof, as seen from the vehicle side, overlaps the frame side wall part. A first inner vent is formed at the boundary part between the gas guide and the first chamber, with gas introduced from the gas guide to the first chamber via this first inner vent. Moreover, a second inner vent is formed at the boundary part between the gas guide and the second chamber, with gas introduced from the gas guide to the second chamber via this second inner vent.

METHOD FOR OPEN AIRWAY POSITION AFTER A VEHICLE CRASH

Vehicle seat mounting bracket for energy attenuating member

A vehicle assembly includes a vehicle body including a frame backing member, and a vehicle seat including a seat back having a seat back frame. An energy attenuating member is positioned in a space between the frame backing member and the seat back frame in a front-rear direction of the vehicle assembly. The energy attenuating member is connected to the frame backing member. A mounting bracket is connected to the energy attenuating member. A connection support portion releasably connects the mounting bracket to an upper portion of the seat back frame in a height direction of the vehicle assembly.

METHOD FOR OPERATING A VEHICLE SEAT DEVICE, VEHICLE SEAT DEVICE

A method for operating a vehicle seat device for motor vehicles, which has a vehicle seat with a seat part and a backrest, associated with the seat part, and at least one actuator which is associated with the seat part and/or the backrest and by means of which the vehicle seat can be brought automatically into a sitting position and into a reclining position, wherein the movement takes place as a function of a desired position that can be specified by a user and of at least one detectable vehicle seat state. It is provided that a current temperature is monitored as the vehicle seat state and that if the monitored temperature falls below a limit temperature, the vehicle seat is brought into a sitting position or left in a current sitting position regardless of the desired position.

Vehicle occupant restraint device and method for operating a vehicle occupant restraint device

A vehicle occupant restraint device for the protection of a vehicle occupant in a vehicle seat comprises plural restraining elements and a controller. The controller differentiates between a first situation in which the vehicle seat is in a position within the range of a standard position, and a second situation in which the vehicle seat with the vehicle occupant is in a position beyond the standard position. When the first situation is given, the controller activates a tensioning unit for tensioning a seat belt of the second restraining element and an airbag of the first restraining element. When the second situation is given, a third restraining element integrated in the vehicle seat and/or operatively connected with the vehicle seat can be activated and/or connected by the controller so that the vehicle seat is moved initially via the third restraining element to a position within the range of the standard position.

Air bag device

An air bag device to be installed in a vehicle provided with a front seat and a rear seat disposed away from each other in a front-rear direction of the vehicle, and a reclining mechanism provided in the front seat to allow a seat back to pivot about a reclining pivot axis includes an air bag that deploys from a back surface of the seat back of the front seat toward the rear seat. At least an upper rear portion of the air bag in a deployed state is formed into an arc shape about the reclining pivot axis in a side view of the vehicle.
