ENERGY ATTENUATING VEHICLE SEAT ASSEMBLY
20200231073 · 2020-07-23 ·

In one embodiment there is disclosed an energy attenuating vehicle seat. The seat includes a seat back pivotally connected to a seat pan, the seat back and the seat pan independently pivotal. At the pivot between the seat back and the seat pan there is a rotary energy attenuation device. The device extends between the seat back longitudinal members and the seat pan longitudinal members and is pivotally attached to the seat pan and the seat back allowing individual adjustment of the back or pan. The rotary energy attenuating device cooperates with a track system along the length of seat longitudinal members allowing for different directions of travel and height adjustment. The vehicle seat offers passive or active protection from impact and sudden acceleration (G force and Pressure Wave) due to accident or explosive events and is capable of automatically resetting.

VEHICLE SEAT
20200171986 · 2020-06-04 ·

A vehicle seat comprising a seat member and a backrest, wherein a belt connection is attached to or integrated into the upper end of the backrest, a mechanical coupling device is provided for coupling the backrest to the assembly for adjustment of the inclination of the seat member in the event of a collision. A triggering threshold is defined wherein the backrest is decoupled from the assembly under normal operating conditions, and wherein in a collision, when the triggering threshold is exceeded, the backrest pivots forwards and is finally coupled via the mechanical coupling device to the assembly, so that further pivoting of the backrest forwards triggers the assembly and causes the front region of the seat member facing away from the backrest to pivot upwards about a transverse axis.

SEAT ASSEMBLY ACTUATABLE FOR POTENTIAL VEHICLE IMPACT
20200171985 · 2020-06-04 ·

A vehicle seat assembly is provided with a seat bottom that is adapted to be mounted to a vehicle floor. A seatback is adapted to be pivotally mounted adjacent to the seat bottom. An actuator is in cooperation with the seat bottom or the seatback. A controller is in electrical communication with the actuator and programmed to receive input indicative of a potential vehicle impact. In response to receiving the input indicative of the potential vehicle impact, the controller outputs a signal to the actuator to tilt the seatback, or to tilt the seat bottom.

ADDITIVE COLLAPSIBLE SEAT

An airbag system for repositioning a seat occupant in a moving vehicle during a crash event includes: a first inflatable airbag disposed proximate to a front portion of a seat pan; a second inflatable airbag disposed proximate to a rear portion of the seat pan; and inflation control device controlling deployment of the first and second inflatable airbags. The inflation control device includes a programmable controller controlling inflation parameters of the first and second inflatable airbags to achieve a desired lift, subject to monument constraints.

METHOD FOR ADJUSTING A POSITION OF A VEHICLE SEAT
20190308534 · 2019-10-10 ·

A method for adjusting a position of a vehicle seat from a reclined position to a pre-determinable safety position. The method includes detecting an imminent or ongoing frontal or semi-frontal collision, pretensioning a seat belt associated with the vehicle seat, the seat belt being directly or indirectly attached to a backrest of the vehicle seat, and adjusting the position of the vehicle seat from the reclined position to the pre-determinable safety position by means of a seat adjustment means associated with the vehicle seat, the seat adjustment means being actuated by a collision force generated by the imminent or ongoing frontal or semi-frontal collision and applied via a seat occupant and/or the seat belt to the vehicle seat. The present invention also relates to an occupant safety arrangement for a vehicle seat.

Vehicular seat equipped with cushion airbag device, and cushion airbag

A vehicular seat includes: a cushion panel disposed to extend in a seat front-rear direction and to form a bottom portion of a seat cushion; an inflator configured to operate to produce gas, the inflator being provided in the seat cushion; and a cushion airbag configured to expand due to the gas and to push up a range including portions of a seat occupant from thighs to hip points in an expansion end state, the cushion airbag being provided over the cushion panel, in which the cushion airbag is set such that a push-up force in rear right and left regions corresponding to right and left hip joints to right and left lower ischium portions of the seat occupant in the expansion end state is lower than a push-up force in a rear center region present between the rear right and left regions in the expansion end state.
