Reverse-facing anti-collision system
11257372 · 2022-02-22 · ·

Various systems and methods for implementing a reverse-facing anti-collision mechanism are described herein. An anti-collision system for a lead vehicle to provide an alert to a trailing vehicle behind the lead vehicle, includes a vehicle controller subsystem to receive from a sensor array interface, sensor data from a rear-facing sensor incorporated into the lead vehicle; determine, using a processor, from the sensor data that the trailing vehicle is a collision risk; and initiate, via a light controller, a visual alert to the trailing vehicle, the visual alert in addition to or in place of brake lights on the lead vehicle.

Organic light emitting device, display apparatus, photoelectric conversion apparatus, illumination apparatus, and moving object

An organic light emitting device including a pair of electrodes and an organic compound layer disposed between the pair of electrodes, wherein the organic compound layer contains, in a weight ratio of 50 wt % or more, an organic compound having a glass transition temperature of 130° C. or more, and the organic compound does not have a moiety represented by formula [1] below, ##STR00001##
where, in formula [1], *'s represent bonding positions.

Notification device

A notification device provided in a vehicle including an autonomous driving system which causes the vehicle to travel by autonomous driving and to evacuate the vehicle when a failure occurs, includes a display unit configured to display information toward an outside of the vehicle, and a display controller configured to control the display unit. The display controller causes the display unit to be turned on or flicker when a failure occurs and changes a display of the display unit in at least one of a time when an evacuation starts and a time when an evacuation is completed.

Notification device

A notification device includes: a notification-sound output portion provided in a vehicle and configured to output a notification sound toward the outside of the vehicle; a notification display portion provided in the vehicle and configured to output a notification display toward the outside of the vehicle; a notification controlling portion configured to control the notification sound of the notification-sound output portion and the notification display of the notification display portion; and a stop-state determination portion configured to determine whether the vehicle during the automatic driving enters a stop state or not. When the stop-state determination portion determines that the vehicle during the automatic driving enters the stop state, the notification controlling portion outputs a stop-time notification sound as the notification sound by the notification-sound output portion and outputs a stop-time notification display as the notification display by the notification display portion.

Apparatuses, Methods and Computer Programs for Controlling Road User Acknowledgement
20170243490 · 2017-08-24 ·

Apparatuses, computer programs and methods are provided. A method includes causing display on an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle of a dynamic sign acknowledging the presence of at least one road user.

LIGHTING DEVICE FOR A VEHICLE

A control system of a self-driving vehicle (SDV) can process sensor data from a sensor system of the SDV to autonomously control acceleration, steering, and braking systems of the SDV along a current route. Based on the current route, the control system can dynamically determine a set of immediate actions to be performed by the SDV. Based on the set of immediate actions, the control system can generate a set of intention outputs on a lighting strip of the SDV, the set of intention outputs indicating the set of immediate actions prior to the SDV executing the set of immediate actions.

INTENTION SIGNALING FOR AN AUTONOMOUS VEHICLE
20170240096 · 2017-08-24 ·

An intention signaling system for an autonomous vehicle (AV) can monitor sensor information indicating a situational environment of the AV, and detect an external entity based, at least in part, on the sensor data. The intention signaling system can generate an output to signal one of an intent of the AV or an acquiescence of the AV to the external entity.

Electronic display panels for buses
09738225 · 2017-08-22 ·

A display system mounted on one or more sides of a public transportation vehicle (e.g., a bus). The display system is interfaced with a portable computing device (e.g., a personal data assistant), where the portable computing device provides updated messages to be displayed on a display panel. The display system includes at least one display panel mounted on one side of a bus, facing outwards such that the display panels may be readily seen when the bus goes around. The display panel is mainly for displaying messages provided by the portable computing device but also for displaying default messages in a local storage device.

Disclosed is a digital sign system and method of use thereof. The system includes a digital sign having a controller board having a microcontroller, a temperature sensor communicably coupled to fans or a cooling/heating unit, an ambient light sensor, a GPS unit, a radar, a communication module, and a power source, wherein the controller board is in communication with an LED panel or another display module for digitally outputting messages, further wherein the digital sign is mounted on a pilot truck to allow the pilot truck to relay messages to a transport truck and oncoming vehicles. The digital sign is in communication with a second GPS unit disposed on the transport truck so as to track the real-time location of the truck. The digital sign measures the distance between a transport and the digital pilot truck sign and displays the relative distances between the two on the digital message board. In operation, the digital sign is configured to automatically adjust its brightness so as to optimize its visibility while reducing glare to other drivers on the road.

DISPLAY SYSTEM FOR VEHICLE

Provided is a display system for a vehicle. The display system includes a display device installed to be visually recognizable from the outside of a vehicle, and a control device configured to cause the display device to display state information of the vehicle. The control device receives a signal from a sensor that senses a distance from the vehicle to an object around the vehicle, and the control device changes display of the display device based on the distance.
