Occupant monitoring device for vehicle and occupant protection system for vehicle

An occupant monitoring device for a vehicle is configured to monitor an occupant sitting on a seat provided in the vehicle and includes a light projector, an imaging device, and a processor. The light projector is configured to project light toward the occupant sitting on the seat. The imaging device is configured to capture an image of the occupant sitting on the seat. The processor is configured to control the light projector and the imaging device to capture the image of the occupant sitting on the seat. In a case where a collision of the vehicle is neither predicted nor detected, the processor causes the imaging device to capture an image of behavior of the occupant corresponding to either one of travel control and behavior of the vehicle so as to change occupant protection control.

Vehicle cabin monitoring system

A system and method for calibrating a vision system includes a selective wavelength interactive material located within the cabin of the vehicle and a control system in communication with the camera. The material is arranged as a pattern having pattern elements configured to reflect or absorb infrared light from an infrared light source. The control system is configured compare a captured image from the vision system that shows the pattern elements and calibrate the vision system based on a comparison of the captured image. Additionally or alternatively, the selective wavelength interactive material is disposed on a surface of a safety belt and the control system is configured to determine that an occupant seated in a seat is wearing a safety belt associated with the seat when the captured images show that the selective wavelength interactive material on the surface of the safety belt extending across the occupant seated.

Real time vehicle occupant emergency health data systems and methods

Real time vehicle occupant emergency health data systems and methods that link a vehicle subsystem, a cloud subsystem, and a public health profile subsystem such that, in a triggering vehicle emergency event or the like, the health status of a previously-identified or unidentified vehicle occupant is captured in real time by an on-board camera and/or other sensor. This vehicle occupant identification and health status information are variously transmitted to the cloud, where the vehicle occupant identification is coupled with available public health profile information, in the case of a previously-identified vehicle occupant. Subsequently, the health status information and public health profile information are transmitted to an emergency responder or the like, thereby aiding in rendering medical assistance to an injured or sick vehicle occupant. The systems and methods of the present disclosure may also provide data analytics information that may be used later to improve vehicle safety.

System and method for occupant classification and the regulation of airbag deployment based thereon

One general aspect includes a system of restraint deployment regulation, the system includes: a memory configured to include a plurality of executable instructions and a processor configured to execute the executable instructions, where the executable instructions enable the processor to: (a) determine, based on a seat occupation sensor output, whether a non-adult occupant is occupying a vehicle seat; (b) determine, based on an in-cabin sensor output, whether a child restraint seat is mounted on the vehicle seat; and (c) based on steps (a) and (b), enable or suppress a deployment of an airbag module that corresponds with the vehicle seat.

Method and device for adapting a triggering algorithm of a personal restraint means of a vehicle
11084442 · 2021-08-10 · ·

A method for adapting a triggering algorithm of a personal restraint device of a vehicle is described. The method includes at least one step of reading in and a step of outputting. In the step of reading in, an object signal is read in that represents a recognition of a mobile object situated in the area of a person in the vehicle during a trip. In the step of outputting, a control signal is outputted that is designed to modify the triggering algorithm of the personal restraint device using the object signal.

Door control device

A door control device in a vehicle including seats and doors, includes: a door driver; a seating position detector; and a door controller. The door driver at least drives opening of the doors. The seating position detector detects a seating position information indicating a position of the seat on which an occupant is seated. The door controller determines a door to be opened on the basis of the seating position information detected by the seating position detector and causes the door driver to drive opening of the determined door.

Vehicle, system for determining seat belt wearing condition, and method of determining seat belt wearing condition

A system that determines a condition of wearing of a seat belt, including: a marker provided on at least a part of the seat belt; an image capture processing unit that emits electromagnetic waves of the prescribed wavelength band toward a predetermined range and that creates an image indicating intensity distribution of electromagnetic waves of the prescribed wavelength band, based on reflected waves reflected in the predetermined range; a shape estimating unit that estimates a shape of an occupant based on the image, detects the marker from the image, and estimates a shape of the seat belt based on the marker detected; and a determining unit that determines the condition of wearing of the seat belt by the occupant, based on a positional relationship between the occupant and the seat belt.

OBJECT DETECTION BY INDEXED OPTICAL FIBER FABRICS

An apparatus comprises a first plurality of optical fibers embedded in a first plurality of fabric strands, a second plurality of optical fibers embedded in a second plurality of fabric strands, and a detector. The first plurality of optical fibers are positioned adjacent to each other and oriented along a first direction and the second plurality of optical fibers are positioned adjacent to each other and oriented along a second direction orthogonal to the first direction. The first and second plurality of optical fibers are configured to receive ambient light emitted onto them. The detector detects the light received into at least some of the first and second plurality of optical fibers and creates data configured to be processed to identify an object adjacent to the apparatus. The data is based on the light received into the first plurality of optical fibers and the second plurality of optical fibers.

Vehicle seat

A vehicle seat includes: a seat main body that includes a seat cushion and a seatback that is connected to a seat rear side end portion of the seat cushion and that is rotatable in a seat front-rear direction with respect to the seat cushion; and a lifter device that moves the seat main body in a seat up-down direction, wherein the seat main body is moved toward a seat upper side by the lifter device in a case in which a reclining angle of the seatback is greater than a predetermined angle and the seat main body is lower than a predetermined height.
