A VEHICLE SEAT
There is proposed a vehicle seat configured to support an occupant (401) in a sitting position, the seat comprising: a squab (27), a backrest (28), and an airbag unit. The airbag unit comprises an inflatable bag (1) and an inflator (34). The airbag comprises an inflatable chamber (8, 9; 208). The airbag further comprises an inflatable guide (2), connected to the inflator and the inflatable chamber. Upon actuation of said inflator, said inflatable guide is at least partially inflated before the inflatable chamber, thereby initially urging the inflatable chamber away from the backrest of the seat. The airbag is configured such that after the inflatable guide is at least partially inflated, the inflatable chamber inflates into a deployed position in which it defines an inflated shroud which extends over said sitting position and provides lateral protection to said occupant of the seat in said sitting position.
SEAT ASSEMBLY WITH FULL SEATBACK AIRBAG
A seatback carrier module includes first and second side portions spaced-apart from one another and interconnected by an upper portion. A cradle portion is disposed along the first and second side portions and the upper portion of the seatback carrier module. The cradle portion includes inner and outer edges with a rearwardly extending body portion. A mounting portion is disposed along a portion of the inner edge of the cradle portion. The mounting portion includes inner and outer edges with a body portion disposed therebetween. The mounting portion further includes a rearwardly extending sidewall disposed along the inner edge of the mounting portion. An airbag assembly is received within the cradle portion and has an inverted U-shaped configuration to substantially surround the outer perimeter of the seatback frame. The airbag assembly is an elongate member defining an overhead airbag assembly.
Seat assembly with deployable belt member
A seat assembly includes a seatback having a back support portion centrally disposed thereon. A retractor mechanism is operably coupled to the seatback. A belt member is coupled to the retractor mechanism. The belt member further includes a body portion disposed between first and second ends of the belt member. The body portion of the belt member is operable between a stowed position and a deployed position. The belt member is disposed in front of the back support portion of the seatback in the deployed position. The belt member is disposed in an interior portion of the seatback in the stowed position. The seat assembly further includes an airbag assembly to which the belt member is attached. The belt member is deployed when the airbag assembly is deployed as coupled thereto.
Vehicle airbag that forces a head restraint to a forward position during inflation of the airbag
A seating assembly for a vehicle comprises: a seatback; an airbag having a stowed position and an inflated position, the airbag being configured to inflate from the stowed position to the inflated position in response to the vehicle impacting an object; a head restraint coupled to the seatback, the head restraint including a forward position, a rearward position, and a locking mechanism preventing the head restraint from moving from the forward position to the rearward position after taking the forward position; and as the airbag inflates from the stowed position to the inflated position, the airbag forces the head restraint from the rearward position to the forward position. As the airbag inflates from the stowed position to the inflated position and forces the head restraint to the forward position, the airbag does not contact the one or more support bars and does not force the seatback to change position.
Air bag device and vehicle seat provided with an air bag device
An air bag device for a vehicle seat has a first air bag portion to be attached to at or close to a first lateral side of a backrest and a second air bag portion to be attached to a second lateral side of a backrest. The first air bag portion and second air bag portion are connected with each other by a third air bag portion designed to be located along a part of the upper portion of a backrest. The air bag device is designed to, when mounted to a vehicle seat, limit the lateral movement of the torso of an occupant and protect an occupant. The third portion will contribute with an increased stability of the air bag device when deployed. The air bag device may be adapted to protect the head of an occupant from injuries.
Vehicle occupant protecting device
A vehicle occupant protecting device, includes: an multidirectional airbag that is accommodated in a headrest, and that receives a gas supply from an inflator and inflates and expands, and that protects a head portion of a vehicle occupant from at least a front side and left and right both sides, and at which a front expanding portion, which protects the head portion from a front side, passes above the head portion in a process of inflating and expanding; and a vehicle cabin ceiling at which a reinforcing portion as an expanding direction regulating means is provided at an interference region which the front expanding portion interferes with in the process of inflating and expanding, and that, by the interference, directs an expanding direction of the front expanding portion toward a front side of the head portion.
Vehicle seat structure
A vehicle seat structure that includes: a seatback that is provided at a seat rear side of a seat cushion so as to be able to tilt in a seat front-rear direction with respect to the seat cushion, and that can support an upper body of a vehicle occupant; a headrest that is provided at a side of the seatback, which side is opposite from a side at which the seat cushion is located, and that can support a head portion of the vehicle occupant; and shoulder restraining portions that are provided at the headrest or at the headrest side of the seatback, and that, by protruding out toward a vehicle occupant side at a time of an emergency of a vehicle, restrain both shoulders of the vehicle occupant in a case in which the vehicle occupant has moved along the seatback toward the headrest side.
Four-way electric power actuation head restraint with automated deployment
A multi-direction power actuated head restraint assembly includes a head restraint mountable to a vehicle seat. The head restraint assembly also includes a fore-aft power actuation mechanism including a fore-aft electric motor to adjust a fore-aft position of the head restraint, the fore-aft electric motor programmed to adjust the fore-aft position at a first fore-aft speed during manual adjustment of the head restraint and at a second fore-aft speed upon detection of an imminent impact by an impact detection system, the second fore-aft speed greater than the first fore-aft speed.
SEAT AIRBAG FOR VEHICLE
A seat airbag for a vehicle includes a first cushion and a second cushion located at the upper end portion of a seatback and configured to be inflated upwards on opposite sides of an occupant sitting in a seat and subsequently to be bent downwards from an upper side of the occupant to cause an end portion of each of the first cushion and the second cushion to be located in front of the occupant. A third cushion is disposed between the first cushion and the second cushion to connect the first cushion and the second cushion to each other.
