In a vehicle seat having an airbag module placed in the seatback thereof, the load that may be applied to the back side of the seatback is prevented from being applied to the airbag module. The vehicle seat includes a seatback frame including a pair of side members extending vertically along either side thereof and providing a structural framework of a seatback, a plate member positioned behind the seatback frame and including an extension in an outboard direction from the side member located on an outboard side of the seatback frame, a mounting member connected to the outboard side member, and an airbag module positioned on a front side of the extension and connected to the outboard side member via the mounting member, a clearance being defined between the airbag module and the extension.

A side airbag device capable of preventing interference between a harness and an airbag is provided between a vehicle body and a seat. The side airbag device includes an airbag module including an inflatable airbag and an inflator supplying a gas into the airbag, a base member including an airbag storage portion having a concave shape and storing the airbag module and is attached between a vehicle body door and the seat, and a retainer member holding the airbag storage portion from the rear side of the vehicle body. The base member includes a first through hole through which a harness of the inflator is inserted and a flange which is formed in the periphery of the first through hole. The retainer member includes a second through hole through which the harness of the inflator is inserted and which is provided at a position facing the first through hole.

A side support block for a vehicle seat configured to be disposed adjacent to a lateral side of a seat back of the vehicle seat includes an airbag module, a cushion pad having a recessed portion accommodating the airbag module on a rear surface of the seat back, a frame embedded in the cushion pad, and a bracket with which the airbag module is fixed to the frame. The bracket includes a fixing portion to be fixed to a vehicle body, and the fixing portion is disposed behind the airbag module.

In a side airbag device, a base member in which an airbag and an inflator are accommodated is fixed to a vehicle body. An outer covering member covers at least a front side of the base member to form a front-facing interior surface. The base member comprises: an inner portion located laterally farther inward within the vehicle body relative to the airbag; an outer portion located laterally farther outward within the vehicle body relative to the airbag; a rear portion located farther rearward relative to the airbag with respect to a front-rear direction of the seat, the rear portion connecting the inner portion and the outer portion; and a bridging portion made of a metal rod, and located apart from and farther frontward relative to the rear portion, the bridging portion connecting the inner portion and the outer portion.

A rear seat side airbag device that includes: an inflator that generates gas in the event of a vehicle collision; and a side airbag that is supplied with gas from the inflator from a position in a vehicle cabin side portion that corresponds to a rear seat, and that is inflated and deployed towards a portion on an outer side in a vehicle width direction of a vehicle occupant in a case in which the vehicle occupant is sitting in the rear seat.

A side airbag apparatus has an inflatable side airbag, an inflator which supplies an inside of said side airbag with gas, a base which includes an accommodating space in which said folded side airbag and inflator are accommodated, and a harness end connected to said inflator to supply it with power for ignition. The base member has a backside surface which faces an inside of the seat and a frontside surface, an opening for the accommodating space protruding toward the frontside surface formed on the backside surface, a protrusion portion constituting said accommodating space at the backside surface formed on the frontside surface, and a harness supporting portion which fixes a portion of said harness downwardly extending the inflator toward the vehicle floor so as to restrict lateral and vertical movements of the harness relative to the frontside surface, is formed below the protrusion portion.

A rear seat side airbag device includes a case disposed at a vehicle rear side of a cabin-side wall portion of a seat side garnish. The seat side garnish is disposed between a vehicle side portion and a seatback of a rear seat. The case has an opening portion that opens toward the cabin-side wall portion, and houses an airbag module main body. An airbag door covers the opening portion and is surrounded by a tear portion and a hinge portion formed at regions corresponding to the opening portion. A spacer is disposed on the airbag door and projects out into the case.

A vehicle seat includes a seatback, a headrest and an airbag unit. The seatback has a front side and a rear side. The headrest is connected to the seatback by at least one post and is adjustable relative to the seatback in a vertical direction. The airbag unit is carried by the seatback and includes an airbag and an inflator. The airbag is rearwardly deployable from the rear side of the seatback from a stored position proximate an upper end of the seatback. The at least one post is oriented relative to the airbag unit in a position selected from a group consisting of a first position in which the at least one post includes a lower end vertically above the airbag unit with a line along an elongated axis of the at least one post intersecting the airbag unit and a second position on which the at least one post is laterally spaced from the airbag unit.

In the state in which the first reinforcing cloth and the second reinforcing cloth are in loops, two end portions of the first reinforcing cloth are sewn to the first skin, and two end portions of the second reinforcing cloth are sewn to the second skin. Thus, the first reinforcing cloth and the second reinforcing cloth are sewn to the first skin and the second skin, respectively, in two-layer states.

The invention relates to an inflatable airbag (1) for the protection of a person comprising a flexible sheath (10) which comprises at least two fingerlike extensions (11), wherein the flexible sheath (10) delimits a closed gas expansion chamber by the fingerlike extensions (11). The invention excels by the fact that the fingerlike extensions (11) are connected by at least one of being stitched, glued or welded to each other so that in an inflated state the airbag (1) takes a three-dimensional shape. The invention further relates to an airbag module, a vehicle occupant restraint system as well as vehicle parts comprising such airbag.
