Side airbag deployment direction control structure
09592789 · 2017-03-14 · ·

A side airbag deployment direction control structure includes an airbag module installed at the vehicle width direction outer side of a door-side side frame portion. During inflation and deployment of a side airbag of airbag module, a stitched portion between a front cover and a front side cover of a seat cover ruptures under inflation pressure of the side airbag. This forms an opening for the side airbag to inflate and deploy to the outer side of a seatback. Note that the stitched portion is provided further to the seat width direction inner side than a center of the inflator. Further, a reaction force plate is positioned at the vehicle width direction outer side of the airbag module and includes a side reaction force face of which a front end portion extends further toward the vehicle front side than the airbag module and the door-side side frame portion.

TRIM ELEMENT COMPRISING A GUIDING DEVICE FOR AN AIRBAG, SAID GUIDING DEVICE COMPRISING AN OVERMOLDED STRUCTURE

A trim element having a body and a guiding device integral with the body and including a transversal wall and a flap connected to the transversal wall by a hinge. The flap is movable relative to the transversal wall between a closed position and an opened position. The guiding device has an overmolded structure including a transversal wall portion extending in the thickness of the transversal wall and a flap portion extending in the thickness of the flap. The guiding device further includes a net, having one end overmolded by the transversal wall portion and one central portion overmolded by the flap portion.

Vehicle interior panel with folded hinge layer

A vehicle interior panel for use over an airbag includes a hinge layer with a folded portion having nested folds. The folded portion interconnects a first portion embedded in an airbag door region of a panel substrate with a second portion embedded in the panel substrate outside the airbag door region. The nested folds are simpler and faster to form than other types of folds and contribute to improved airbag door kinematics.

Instrument panel topper system for dual horizon display with encapsulated passenger side airbag door

An instrument panel for vehicles includes a substrate and a an airbag door assembly having one or more gaps forming openings. The substrate includes a breakaway web below the airbag door assembly. An upper skin extends over a portion of the substrate and the airbag door assembly. Foam is disposed between the substrate and the upper skin. An airbag module is positioned below the breakaway web. When deployed, the airbag causes the breakaway web and foam above the airbag door assembly to rupture.

A scrim including a body portion disposed on an airbag door, the airbag door being configured to open upon a deployment of an airbag, a bent portion disposed on a wall surface of an airbag chute, the airbag chute being formed in a mesh shape, and a hinge portion connecting the body portion and the bent portion, the hinge portion being configured to be partially folded to be seated in the airbag chute.

Seamless passenger airbag system

An airbag assembly includes a housing having a chute defining an opening. A panel is joined with the chute at a first end and extends over the opening to a second end opposite the first end and elevated with respect thereto. A substrate overlies the panel such that the elevated second end is closer to the substrate than the first end, and a foam layer extends from the substrate to the panel.

Knee airbag device

A knee airbag device including an airbag cushion, a storage case in which is formed a horizontally long opening part where the expanded and deployed airbag cushion pops outs, a first flap for covering the airbag cushion exposed through the opening part such that the airbag cushion is retained in the storage case, and having a first weak part that breaks when pressed by the airbag cushion during expansion and deployment, and a second flap, which is a component with a larger dimension in a length direction than the first flap and for covering an outer surface of the first flap so as to transverse in a short direction of the opening part a center part of the airbag cushion in a lateral direction, the second flap having a second weak part that breaks when pressed by the airbag cushion after rupture of the first weak part.

Vehicle instrument panel and foldable airbag deployment door

An airbag deployment door for a motor vehicle, the airbag deployment door having a panel and a hinge formed along one side of the panel. The hinge is configured to couple to a panel on the vehicle to allow the panel to pivot, a tear seam extending on an opposite side of the panel, wherein the tear seam is configured to open during the deployment of an airbag, and a scoring line extending through the panel in the shape of a generally Y-shape to form first, second, and third panel members, wherein the scoring lines allow the first, second, and third panel members to fold during deployment of the airbag.

Cover for an airbag device, interior trim part and method for manufacturing a cover

A cover for an airbag device disposed on a supporting portion including an exit opening for an airbag, which is covered with a cover component. The cover includes a cover layer applied to the supporting portion and the cover component, the cover layer being weakened along a weakening line in or near a hinge region of the cover component.

SAFETY MODULE FOR A VEHICLE

A safety module for a vehicle includes a housing having an opening that accommodates an airbag associated with the safety module during deployment of the airbag, and at least one cover attached over the opening of the housing. The cover is connected to the housing through one or more hinges, where each hinge is formed by one or more curved portions and one or more flat portions arranged adjacent to each other along a hinge axis. The flat portions include one or more ribs protruding from an upper surface of the flat portions, which can be welded to an inner surface of a carrier of the vehicle for preventing the separation of the cover during airbag deployment.
