Frontal airbag systems with deployment-assisting wrapper
An inflatable airbag system is disclosed, the inflatable airbag system configured with a wrapper to facilitate an inflating airbag cushion to exit a housing of the inflatable airbag system. The inflatable airbag system may be mounted forward of an occupant of a vehicle, the inflatable airbag system disposed behind one or more panel doors, the panel doors each equipped with a hinge to facilitate opening of the panel doors without the panel doors detaching. The wrapper is configured to separate so as to form a ramp to cover each hinge of each panel door whereby the inflating airbag cushion is precluded from engaging the hinge, wherein such engagement may otherwise adversely alter an inflation rate or trajectory of the inflating airbag cushion.
Trim Assembly
A trim assembly for deploying an airbag element, a vehicle including such a trim assembly and a method for manufacturing such a trim assembly. The trim unit includes a vehicle body portion, a trim unit and at least one fixing element. The fixing element is configured to attach the trim unit to the vehicle body portion. The airbag element is arranged between the trim unit and the vehicle body portion. The trim unit is configured to cover at least partially the airbag element. The trim unit is pivotable about the fixing element such that the trim unit is tilted away from the vehicle body portion during a deployment of the airbag element.
Airbag cover
An airbag cover includes a base material, a retainer, an airbag cover main body, and a flexible skin layer. The door portion includes a door constituent portion of the base material, and a door support portion provided in the retainer and holding the door constituent portion. The retainer includes the door support portion, a peripheral edge portion disposed around the door support portion, and a substantially flat plate-shaped hinge portion disposed between the peripheral edge portion and the door support portion and bendable when the door portion is opened. The base material is provided with a space portion at a disposition portion of the hinge portion of the retainer, and the hinge portion is a non-disposition portion of the base material. A region of the hinge portion includes two layers of the hinge portion of the retainer and the skin layer bonded to the hinge portion.
Airbag device
An airbag device includes an airbag, a case in which the folded airbag is housed, and an airbag cover that covers the folded airbag. An attachment portion of the airbag cover is attached to a peripheral wall portion of the case by a rivet being caused to pass through. The case is such that a vicinity of a boundary region between the peripheral wall portion and a bottom wall portion is curved in an approximate arc in cross-section. The attachment portion includes a protruding portion that protrudes toward the peripheral wall portion side in an end edge farther to a leading end side than a region of penetration of the rivet. The protruding portion is disposed in a position opposing a curved region configuring a boundary region between the peripheral wall portion and the bottom wall portion, and is protruded in such a way as to be oriented farther to a central side of the bottom wall portion than an outer side face of the peripheral wall portion, and an edge on the peripheral wall portion side of a protruding end face is disposed in a state of non-contact with the curved region.
Vehicle crash pad
There is provided a vehicle crash pad coupled to a passenger airbag door having a passenger airbag installed in a passenger seat direction, the vehicle crash pad including a base forming a frame, a scrim coupled to an inside of the base of the passenger airbag door in an insert-injection method, a skin disposed above the base portion and having a surface exposed to an outside, a foam disposed between the base and the skin, and X shaped incision grooves formed in a rear surface of the base in an area of the passenger airbag door.
LIGHT EMITTING DISPLAY DEVICE
A light emitting display device, which is applied to a vehicle provided with an airbag device having an airbag accommodated in a folded state and an airbag cover with a shape of covering a vehicle interior of the airbag, the light emitting display device includes: a light emitting display part provided to the airbag cover, the light emitting display part configured to emit light using supplied power; a power feeding device including a power reception coil and a power transmission coil, the power feeding device configured to supply power to the light emitting display part in a non-contact manner, wherein: the power reception coil is provided to the airbag cover in a state of being integrated with the light emitting display part; and the power transmission coil is arranged at a position out of a range, in which the airbag is deployed, when the airbag device is operated.
TRIM MODULE FOR A PILLAR OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
A trim module is disclosed for a pillar of a motor vehicle, in particular for an A-pillar of a motor car. The trim module includes a trim body, a basic body configured to connect to the pillar, a latch and a jointed connection. The trim body includes a pivot portion pivotable about the jointed connection and facing the interior of the motor vehicle. The basic body includes a connecting portion, a bearing portion and a support portion. The support portion is formed in the direction of the pivot portion. The pivot portion, the bearing portion and the support portion form a first receiving region for an inflatable airbag. The pivot portion and the bearing portion are detachably connected to one another by the latch and the jointed connection is formed on the side of the support portion facing away from the first receiving region.
Airbag assembly
The invention relates to an airbag assembly comprising an airbag through-opening arranged over the chute channel of the airbag, which opening is closed by at least one airbag flap and an, in particular sprayed-on, covering made of plastic and secured over the airbag flap, wherein the covering has at least one target break line at the edge of the airbag flap in order to enable the unfolding of the airbag cushion, and wherein the airbag flap is connected via a joining point to a flap support wall in a moulded manner, which is in contact with the inner side of the chute channel wall in a secured manner, wherein am additional flat element is inserted (as a cover) in the chute channel between the airbag cushion and the airbag flap, which flat element at least partially overs the airbag flap and the inner side of the chute channel wall.
Concentrator strap for seat-mounted airbag
A vehicle seat includes an airbag and a concentrator strap that facilitates simplified assembly and enhanced airbag performance. The concentrator strap includes an attachment feature that cooperates with a corresponding feature of the seat frame in a manner that reduces cost, cycle time, and assembly errors. The concentrator strap extends over the airbag module and into an attachment opening, where an attachment tab engages the seat frame. The concentrator strap can be pre-attached to a seat cover and extended to engage the seat frame after the seat cover is partially installed over the seat frame, as the attachment tab can be configured for engagement without the need for special tools.
POLYVINYLCHLORIDE FOR SEAMLESS AIRBAG DOORS
The present invention relates to a highly plasticized PVC formula that can be both dry blended and if desired, alloyed with acrylonitrile butadiene rubber to produce enhanced haptic material characteristics for a vehicle interior trim component. This blend/alloy can be made using high intensity mixers without the need for melt processing and grinding processes. “Dry blending” techniques allow the spherical particles from suspension grade PVC resins to be retained during the blending process, resulting in a final product with superior flow-ability in comparison to other low temperature deployable grade PVCs in the marketplace.
