AIRBAG COVER STRUCTURE FOR STEERING WHEEL

An airbag cover structure for a steering wheel. The airbag cover structure with a lighting emblem includes: a mounting plate with an airbag cushion; an inner cover including an inner locking portion, a storage portion, and an inner hinge portion; an outer cover including an outer locking portion, an indicating portion, and an outer hinge portion; and an absorption area provided on the inner hinge portion of the inner cover, and configured to concentrate and absorb stress generated by a force that unfolds a bent portion of the outer hinge portion during deployment of the airbag cushion.

Curtain airbag assembly

A present implementation of an airbag system is adapted to include a curtain airbag assembly having a vertical barrier extended in a vertical direction when deployed, the vertical barrier having a first inflatable part deployed at a left side of a vehicle and a second inflatable deployed at a right side of the vehicle. The airbag system further includes sensors adapted to sense parameters associated with operational characteristics of a vehicle and an electronic control unit (ECU) adapted to receive the parameters from the sensors. The ECU is further adapted to monitor the plurality of parameters to determine if the vehicle is experiencing an accident. The airbag system further includes an inflation module adapted to deploy the curtain airbag assembly. If the ECU determines that an accident is occurring, the ECU provides a trigger signal to the inflation module to initiate a process to deploy the curtain airbag assembly.

A vehicle steering system including a yoke type steering wheel. An airbag module located in the steering wheel and including an inflator and an airbag. The airbag is configured to inflate into two configurations. In the first configuration the airbag is fully inflated into a circular configuration and in the second configuration the airbag inflates into a u-shaped configuration. The u-shaped configuration is formed by a tether connected at a first end to the airbag and at a second end to a tether release device. The tether release device is configured to stay connected to the tether when the driver is determined to be in an out of position (OOP) condition.

Trim panel assembly

A trim panel assembly includes a trim panel configured to be removably connected to a pillar of a vehicle body structure. A connecting member includes a first part connected to the trim panel and a second part configured to be connected to the pillar. The first part is configured to be separable from the second part. A fastening member is connected between the first and second parts of the connecting member to limit a separation distance of the trim panel when the first part separates from the second part.
