Vehicle air bag structural device
A vehicle air bag device can include an air bag retainer that has at least one clip located adjacent an opening at an outer periphery of the air bag retainer. An air bag chute can be located adjacent the air bag retainer and configured to guide the air bag along a deployment axis during deployment from the air bag retainer. The air bag chute can include a wall including a clip aperture opening located therein. The at least one clip can have an upper surface facing an upper surface of the clip aperture opening, and the upper surface of the at least one clip can be at an acute angle with respect to the deployment axis. The acute angle upper surface can extend from an interior of the air bag chute through the clip aperture and to an exterior of the air bag chute.
Airbag packaging wrap
In one aspect, an apparatus for protecting an occupant of a vehicle includes an airbag having a stored condition in which the airbag is deflated, flattened, and rolled and/or folded. A packaging wrap is formed from a fabric sheet. The packaging wrap includes a cover and an elongated tail that extends from the cover. The cover is configured to be wrapped or folded about the rolled and/or folded airbag to envelope and package the airbag in the stored condition. The tail is configured to be wrapped around the cover and the airbag packaged therein to secure the airbag packaged in the cover.
Air bag module
An assembly includes a housing (12) and a cover (20) that define a cavity (15). An air bag (22) is positioned in the cavity (15), and the cover (20) has hooks (46) that engage with the housing (12) to secure the cover (20) to the housing (12). The air bag (22) expands to absorb kinetic energy of a driver. The hooks (46) are energized into engagement with the housing (12) directly or indirectly by the air bag (22) as it expands.
Airbag device
An airbag device for a steering wheel includes: an inflator for supplying an inflation gas to a folded airbag, the inflator including: a main body having a gas discharge portion on an upper portion side; and a flange portion provided on an outer peripheral surface of the main body which is the outer peripheral surface located further on a lower side than the gas discharge port; an attachment base holding the inflator by making the flange portion be attached to the attachment base; fastening members arranged at a plurality positions in a lower surface side around the inflator and mounted on the steering wheel main body by the fastening members. Each of the fastening members is disposed such that at least a part of the fastening member is disposed so as to vertically overlap the flange portion in a lower side of the flange portion.
VEHICLE TRIM COMPONENT
A vehicle interior/trim component configured to support an airbag module is disclosed. The component may comprise a structural substrate with a reinforcement to provide a door/opening for airbag deployment. The reinforcement may comprise a pattern of threads (e.g. top stitch to secure the door and bottom stitch). The reinforcement may comprise threads sewn within and/or pressed into a surface of a substrate/panel. The top stitch thread weight may be greater than that of the bottom stitch. The top stitch may comprise a retaining thread/hinge; the bottom stitch may separate upon deployment. The reinforcement may comprise KEVLAR, aramid, nylon, polyester, thread, ceramic fibers, polymeric fibers, synthetic fibers, etc. The structural substrate may comprise a fiber panel, compression-formed component, generally rigid fiber mat, etc. The component may be formed by injecting resin into a mold to form an ancillary component of a composite structure.
Airbag device
An airbag includes a body, an insert opening and a flap member which covers the insert opening from inside of the airbag. A retainer is inside the airbag, and an inflator is inserted into a holding section of the retainer via the insert opening such that the root end protrudes from the insert opening. The flap member entirely covers the insert opening of the airbag body as unfolded and is joined to the airbag body, with a continuous seam, by the circumferential edge except the leading edge disposed towards the leading end of the inflator. The flap member thus covers the holding section. The retainer includes an open region which exposes an outer periphery of the inflator towards the flap member, and the leading edge of the flap member is positioned to be pressed against the outer periphery of the inflator via the open region at airbag deployment.
Airbag device
An airbag includes an insert opening. An inflator is inserted into the airbag via the insert opening and set in a holding section of a retainer which is disposed inside the airbag. The retainer includes, at its end region disposed towards the insert opening of the airbag, two retaining pawls that are in engagement with a periphery of the insert opening. The insert opening is composed of a plurality of slits formed on a base material of the airbag such that one or more area among the slits serve as a bent sealing region that is bent inward and covers an outer periphery of the inflator. The slits include a pair of retaining slits that intersect each other. Each of the retaining pawls protrudes from a terminal of each of the retaining slits. A peripheral area of the retaining slits constitutes the bent sealing region.
Airbag, airbag assembly and method for assembling an airbag assembly
An airbag having an outer skin having an inner side and an outer side is described. The outer skin has an inflator attachment region in which an opening structure for an inflator is provided. The airbag is a part of an airbag assembly further having a flange and an inflator extending through the opening structure and being attached to the flange. In order to provide the possibility of an easy and automatable mounting process, the opening structure having at least two basically radially extending cut-outs, so that the attachment region has at least two flap sections being separated by the cut-outs. These flap sections can be pulled apart during the mounting process, such that the inflator can be attached to the flange.
Side air bag device
A side air bag device is described which is disposed in a space between a vehicle body and a back seat and for which rigidity of attachment to a vehicle body member is improved. The side air bag device provided between a vehicle body and a back seat includes: a base member including a base storage configured to store an air bag and an inflator and a base attachment portion attached to the vehicle body; and a retainer member configured to hold the base storage from a vehicle back side. The retainer member extends from a portion holding the base storage while being bent along the shape of the vehicle body. The retainer member is attached to the vehicle body together with the base attachment portion while being overlapped with the base attachment portion.
