REAR-SEAT AIRBAG AND REAR-SEAT AIRBAG APPARATUS
A rear-seat airbag is configured to expand and deploy from a lower portion of a center console of a vehicle toward a center portion of a row of rear seats. A point of intersection of virtual loci of forward movements of a head, a chest, and knees of a passenger sitting in the center portion of the row of rear seats in response to an impact generated by a collision of the vehicle coincides with a center of gravity of the rear-seat airbag when the rear-seat airbag expands and deploys.
REAR-SEAT AIRBAG
A rear-seat airbag configured to expand and deploy inward of a vehicle from a door trim beside a rear seat includes a first expansion air chamber and a second expansion air chamber. The first expansion air chamber is configured to expand and deploy to a space facing leg parts of a passenger in the rear seat that are above knees of the passenger. The second expansion air chamber is configured to expand and deploy to a space between the first expansion air chamber and the passenger in the rear seat.
REAR-SEAT AIRBAG AND REAR-SEAT AIRBAG APPARATUS
A rear-seat airbag is configured to expand and deploy from a lower portion of a center console of a vehicle toward a center portion of a row of rear seats. The rear-seat airbag includes a first airbag and a second airbag. The first airbag is configured to restrain an upper body of a passenger sitting in the center portion of the row of rear seats. The second airbag is configured to restrain a lower body of the passenger sitting in the center portion of the row of rear seats. The first airbag is coupled to the second airbag such that, when the rear-seat airbag expands and deploys, the first airbag covers a half or more of the second airbag.
Airbag device for vehicle
The present invention relates to an airbag device for a vehicle. The airbag device comprises: an airbag cushion which is formed in a shawl shape and deployed toward both sides of a passenger so as to wrap and restrain the entire upper body around both shoulders of the passenger when a vehicle collides; and an inflator for generating gas and supplying the gas to the airbag cushion in response to an impact detection signal when the vehicle collides. Accordingly, when a vehicle collides, the shawl-shaped airbag cushion installed on the back of a seat is inflated and deployed to restrain the both sides and front area of the upper body of a passenger around both shoulders of the passenger, thereby safely protecting the passenger.
Self-conforming rearseat air bag
An apparatus (10) for helping to protect an occupant (20) of a vehicle (12) having a seat (16 or 22) for receiving the occupant (20) includes an inflatable protection device (14) inflatable from a stored condition in the vehicle (12) adjacent a reaction surface (19, 23, 36) to a deployed condition between the reaction surface and the vehicle occupant (20). The protection device (14) includes a front portion (62) presented toward the seat (22) and an inflatable volume for receiving a penetrating occupant (20′) when the protection device (14) is in the deployed condition. A rear portion (64) connected to the front portion (62) has an inflatable volume spaced from the front portion (62) by a space (110). The front portion (62) is positioned between the vehicle occupant (20) and the rear portion (64) when the protection device (14) is in the deployed condition. The inflated front portion (62) is movable in a fore-aft direction relative to the rear portion (64) to engage the occupant (20) regardless of the distance between the reaction surface (19, 23, 36) and the occupant (20).
Side airbag apparatus
A side airbag apparatus has an inflatable side airbag, an inflator which supplies the side airbag with gas, a base member in which the folded side airbag and inflator are accommodated, and a harness connected to the inflator to supply it with power for ignition. The base member has a backside surface which faces an inside of the seat, a frontside surface, a protrusion portion formed on the frontside surface, and a harness supporting portion below the protrusion portion which fixes a portion of the harness so as to restrict lateral and vertical movements of the harness relative to the frontside surface.
Headliner system and method
A headliner system includes a plurality of segments connected together and outlining a central opening and a central section received in the central opening. The central section is selected from a group of central sections consisting of a multisection panel incorporating an overhead airbag grid system, a panel incorporating a fold down display panel and a panel incorporating a pull down divider.
Air bag device
An air bag device to be installed in a vehicle provided with a front seat and a rear seat disposed away from each other in a front-rear direction of the vehicle, and a reclining mechanism provided in the front seat to allow a seat back to pivot about a reclining pivot axis includes an air bag that deploys from a back surface of the seat back of the front seat toward the rear seat. At least an upper rear portion of the air bag in a deployed state is formed into an arc shape about the reclining pivot axis in a side view of the vehicle.
Floor-mounted airbag between passenger and cargo compartments
A vehicle includes a vehicle body defining an interior cabin. The interior cabin includes a passenger compartment and a cargo compartment. The vehicle body includes a floor below the interior cabin. An airbag is supported on the floor and is inflatable upwardly from the floor between the passenger compartment and the cargo compartment. A retractor is fixed to the vehicle body above the airbag. A tether extends from the retractor to the airbag.
Roof-mounted occupant restraint system
A restraint system (10) for helping to protect an occupant (60) of a vehicle (20) having a roof (32) and a cabin (40) with a seat (50) for the occupant (60) includes an airbag (120) having a stored condition within the roof (32) and being inflatable to a deployed condition extending into the cabin (40) aligned with the seat (50). A tether (140) includes a first end (142) connected to the airbag (120) and a second end (144) connected to the vehicle (20). Tear stitching (170) interconnects overlying portions (152, 154) of the tether (140). The tear stitching (170) is rupturable in response to occupant (60) penetration into the deployed airbag (120) to permit the interconnected overlying portions (151, 154) to move relative to one another such that the tether (140) lengthens.
