Front and rear deployable containment system

A deployable containment system of a vehicle includes a pair of guide channels that surround an opening facing one of a forward direction of travel of the vehicle and a backward direction of travel of the vehicle. Each of the guide channels has a first end and a second end. A housing is mounted to the first ends of the guide channels. A shield is configured to: deploy from the housing; travel along the guide channels toward the second ends of the guide channels; and cover at least a portion of the opening, An actuator is configured to, in response to being triggered, deploy the shield from the housing and move the shield along the guide channels toward the second ends of the guide channels.

PASSENGER PROTECTING DEVICE

A passenger protecting device that includes: a first inflating portion that is provided between vehicle seats disposed so as to face one another, and that inflates in a vehicle vertical direction with respect to a floor of a vehicle body due to gas being supplied to an interior of the first inflating portion; and a second inflating portion that is connected to the first inflating portion and that inflates due to gas being supplied thereto from the first inflating portion, in a state after inflation, the second inflating portion being disposed so as to face, in a seat longitudinal direction, passengers in a state in which the passengers are seated in the vehicle seats that are disposed so as to face one another, and being apart from the floor of the vehicle body.

Lower leg airbag assembly for a vehicle

An airbag assembly including an airbag configured to be coupled to a vehicle floor of a vehicle. The airbag is movable between a stowed position and a deployed position. In the stowed position, the airbag is deflated. In the deployed position, the airbag is inflated and spaced apart from the vehicle floor to define an aperture between the airbag and the vehicle floor. The aperture is sized to receive feet or lower leg of a vehicle occupant, thereby limiting movement of the legs of the vehicle occupant when an external force is exerted on the vehicle.

Vehicle airbag

A passive restraint includes inflatable members inflatable to an inflated position. The inflatable members are elongated along a longitudinal axis and spaced from each other in a lateral direction in the inflated position. The passive restraint includes uninflatable panels arranged in an alternating arrangement with the inflatable members. Each panel is elongated in the lateral direction when the inflatable members are inflated and extends from one of the inflatable members to another one of the inflatable members.

AIRBAG ASSEMBLY CONFIGURED TO DEPLOY FROM A SIDE WALL OF A VEHICLE TO RESIST UPWARD MOTION OF THE LEG OF AN OCCUPANT, AND A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING THE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

An airbag assembly according to the present disclosure includes an elongated cushion and a restraint. The elongated cushion is configured to deploy from an interior side wall of a vehicle into a passenger compartment of the vehicle to resist upward motion of a leg of an occupant of the vehicle. The restraint is configured to prevent the elongated cushion from rotating upward and toward the side wall when the leg of the occupant contacts an underside surface of the elongated cushion.

Airbag unit and motor vehicle

An airbag unit having an airbag and at least one inflator. The airbag unit is especially suitable for preventing an element located outside the passenger compartment of a vehicle from intruding into the passenger compartment during an accident. The airbag is made of a hose formed of a one-pieced woven element extending from a first end to a second end. The hose is bent or folded, such that two parallel sections (24a, 24b) of the airbag are formed with each section (24a, 24b) enclosing a chamber. The airbag is very robust and can be designed such that in its deployed state its thickness is large in relation to its volume.

SIDE AIRBAG DEVICE FOR REAR SEAT

A side airbag device for a rear seat relating to the technique of the present disclosure includes: an airbag module that is provided at an interior of a side garnish that is disposed between a vehicle body side portion and a vehicle transverse direction outer side of a seatback of a rear seat; a tubular flow regulating cloth that is provided at an interior of a side airbag of the airbag module, at a periphery of an inflator; and an airbag door that is provided at the side garnish, and that has a hinge portion and a tear portion at a periphery thereof, and that is pushed by the tubular flow regulating cloth when gas is generated from the inflator, wherein the tubular flow regulating cloth has openings at both ends thereof, and has exhaust holes in a peripheral wall thereof.

Anchorless tether for curtain airbag

An apparatus for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle includes a curtain airbag inflatable from a stored condition adjacent a roof of the vehicle to a deployed condition in which the curtain airbag is positioned between a side structure of the vehicle and the vehicle occupant. The apparatus also includes a tether for anchoring the curtain airbag to the vehicle structure. The tether includes a length of woven fabric material having longitudinal slits spaced from each other along the length of the tether. The tether is doubled over onto itself to position the slits overlying each other and to form a loop at the terminal end of the tether. A fastener extends through the aligned slits and being configured to connect the tether directly to the sheet metal of the vehicle.
