Flexible holding element for removably attaching an element of an airbag
Holding elements for attaching an element of an airbag assembly to a holding unit comprising such a holding element and an inflating element, along with related methods. In some embodiments, the holding element may be configured for attaching an element of an airbag assembly via at least one tear seam, and the holding element may comprise a first side wall made of a flexible material and a second side wall made of a flexible material. A peripheral connection may couple the first side wall and the second side wall and may extend from a first end to a second end such that the first side wall, the second side wall, and the peripheral connection define a space therebetween and an opening. The holding element may further comprise an inlay comprising a hole and having at least one layer being located between the first side wall and the second side wall.
HEAT-RESISTANCE INCREASING FABRIC SHEET FOR AIRBAG
A heat-resistance increasing fabric sheet for an airbag is used in an airbag that is deployed and inflated by inflation gas discharged from a gas outlet portion of an inflator. The heat-resistance increasing fabric sheet is configured to increase the heat resistance of a member subjected to an increase in heat resistance. The heat-resistance increasing fabric sheet includes a base fabric sheet, a heat-resistant layer, and a top coat layer. The base fabric sheet is made of cotton fibers and arranged between the member subjected to an increase in heat resistance and the gas outlet portion. The heat-resistant layer is made of aluminum foil laminated on a surface of the base fabric sheet that faces the gas outlet portion. The top coat layer is made of a plastic film laminated on a surface of the heat-resistant layer that faces the gas outlet portion.
Passenger airbag with extended base
An airbag module for a vehicle includes an inflator disposed behind an instrument panel and an airbag arrangement. The airbag arrangement includes a cushion section configured to receive an occupant during impact and a balloon section disposed proximate a base of the cushion section and adjacent the instrument panel such that, upon inflation, the balloon section contacts and pushes against the instrument panel. This forms a swell on the cushion section adjacent to the balloon section configured to hinder movement of the occupant toward the balloon section.
Steering wheel assembly including an airbag tether
A steering wheel assembly for a vehicle includes a steering wheel and an airbag that is supported by the steering wheel. The airbag is inflatable away from the steering wheel in an inflation direction. An airbag tether includes a first end coupled to the steering wheel, and a second end spaced from the first end and coupled to the steering wheel. The airbag is disposed between the steering wheel and the airbag tether. During a frontal impact of the vehicle, the airbag tether may be positioned independent of steering wheel position to restrict inflation of the airbag adjacent a thorax of a driver of the vehicle.
AIRBAG MODULE FOR WOOD DASHBOARD SURFACE
Embodiments can provide an airbag system configured for a dashboard with a surface made of wood. The airbag system can comprise an airbag made of thin film. The thin film can be fitted in a layer of the dashboard. Tear lines may be formed around the wood dashboard where the air bag is located. The air bag may burst out of the wood dashboard when filled with gas.
Polyester fiber for airbag and preparation method thereof
The present invention relates to a polyester fiber that can be applied to a fabric for airbag, particularly, to a polyester fiber having an elongation of 0.4% or less at the stress of 1.0 g/d, an enlongation of 4.0% or less at the stress of 4.0 g/d, and an enlongation of 7.0% or less at the stress of 7.0 g/d, and an initial modulus of 105 to 130 g/d; a method of preparing the same; and a fabric for airbag prepared therefrom. Since the polyester fiber of the present invention decreases stiffness remarkably and secures superior mechanical properties by having a high strength, high elongation, and high shrinkage, it is possible to provide superior packing property, dimensional stability, and air-tight effect, and to protect passengers safely by minimizing the impact applied to the passengers, when it is used for the fabric for airbag.
Negative poisson's ratio materials for impact protection devices
An impact protection device includes a cushion formed from a first material having a negative Poisson's ratio (NPR) and a second material having a positive Poisson's ratio (PPR). The first material and the second material can be layered or can be formed as a matrix of cells. The impact protection device can be an airbag with the cushion coupled to an inflation source or an expulsion source for deploying the airbag in response to an impact. The impact protection device can also be an impact vest with the cushions positioned on the vest body for absorbing impact forces to the vest body. The combination of the NPR and PPR materials improve the impact absorption of the impact protection devices compared to conventional materials.
Airbag device and method for inflating airbag device
An airbag device includes a gas generator including a first gas generating agent and an ignition unit, and an airbag configured to inflate upon receiving a combustion gas from the gas generator, the airbag including an inlet being configured to cause the combustion gas supplied from the gas generator to flow into an internal space of the airbag, a bag-shaped portion configured to separate, from an outside, the internal space into which the combustion gas flows from the inlet, the bag-shaped portion being configured to be in a folded state and to be in an inflated state by receiving the supply of the combustion gas, and a second gas generating agent that is disposed at a predetermined position on an inner surface of the bag-shaped portion and generates gas by using thermal energy of the combustion gas without accompanying a combustion reaction.
