Airbag apparatus
An airbag apparatus may include: a first chamber connected to an inflator, and supporting the head of a passenger in case of a head-on collision of a vehicle; a second chamber connected to one side of the first chamber so as to be supported by the first chamber, and suppressing the head of the passenger from moving in a diagonal direction in case of an oblique collision of the vehicle; a communication part formed in the first chamber so as to introduce gas of the first chamber into the second chamber; and a valve tether installed along the circumference of the communication part, connected to the first chamber, and closing the communication part when the first chamber is completely deployed.
AIRBAG
Provided is an airbag which further reduces the degree of injury to a vehicle occupant while also exhibiting sufficient occupant protection performance using less output from the inflator, by both preventing airbag internal pressure from rising excessively when making contact with the occupant and increasing the speed of deployment in an occupant-protection area. This hollow-weave airbag has an opening in a main chamber that inflates for the purpose of occupant protection, a structure wherein a first yarn extending separatingly from a first fabric layer of the opening to a non-inflating portion is caught on a float yarn extending on the inside of a second fabric layer and subsequently caught on a float yarn extending on the inside of the first fabric layer, this structure being repeated at least once and forming a pair with another structure wherein a second yarn extending separatingly from the second fabric layer of the opening to the non-inflating portion is caught on the float yarn extending on the inside of the first fabric layer and subsequently caught on the float yarn extending on the inside of the second fabric layer, this structure being repeated at least once.
AIRBAG FOR VEHICLE
An airbag for a vehicle includes a main chamber that deploys and inflates toward a passenger and has an empty space formed therein. A delay chamber is disposed in the empty space of the main chamber and is connected with the main chamber through a connecting portion. The delay chamber inflates in the empty space of the main chamber by receiving gas from the main chamber through the connecting portion when the main chamber is deployed.
Airbag module assembly
An airbag module assembly has an airbag cushion with at least one vent, a housing structure for receiving the airbag cushion, a housing cover for attachment to the housing structure, a vent connector connected to the vent, a pin puller mechanism with a retractable pin, and a flexible conduit extending from the airbag cushion adjacent the vent to the pin puller mechanism. The vent connector extends inside the conduit to a looped end for attachment to the retractable pin. The vent connector can be a rope or wire. The vent is initially in a closed position during deployment of the airbag. The airbag cushion is folded about the conduit during assembly and the vent connector is configured to pass through the flexible conduit when the airbag cushion is folded.
AIRBAG WITH SELECTIVELY RELEASABLE EXTERNAL VENT
A vehicle including an instrument panel, a front seat rotatable between a forward-facing position and a rearward-facing position, and an airbag inflatable between the instrument panel and the front seat. The vehicle includes a controller including a processor and a memory storing processor-executable instructions wherein the processor is programmed to identify that the front seat is rearward-facing, inflate an airbag in response to a sensed frontal impact, and open an external vent in the airbag during inflation in response to identification that the front seat is rearward-facing.
Airbag and method for protecting an occupant of a vehicle
An apparatus for helping to protect an occupant of a vehicle comprises an airbag having a primary chamber and a secondary chamber. The primary chamber has a stored condition and is inflatable to a deployed condition to cover a portion of the vehicle. The secondary chamber has a stored condition and is inflatable to a deployed condition to cover portions of the vehicle left uncovered by the primary chamber. At least one passive vent provides fluid communication between the primary and secondary chambers. At least one active vent is actuatable to provide fluid communication between the primary and secondary chambers. An inflator is actuatable to provide inflation fluid to the primary chamber. The at least one passive vent directs inflation fluid from the primary chamber into the secondary chamber. The at least one active vent is actuatable to direct inflation fluid from the primary chamber to the secondary chamber.
Airbag for retractable steering wheel
A restraint system includes a retractable steering wheel, an airbag inflatable from the steering wheel, two primary tethers, two secondary tethers, and a tether release engaged with both secondary tethers. The airbag when inflated includes a front panel adjacent the steering wheel and an impact panel opposite the front panel. The primary tethers extend from the front panel to the impact panel. The secondary tethers extend from the front panel to each primary tether.
AIRBAG DEVICE
An airbag device includes a curtain airbag that is inflated by gas supplied to an inside of the curtain airbag, and that is configured to be deployed to a vehicle width direction outer side of an occupant seated in a vehicle seat, a main airbag that is inflated by gas supplied to an inside of the main airbag, and that is configured to be deployed from an instrument panel side to a front side of the occupant seated in the vehicle seat, and an auxiliary airbag that is inflated by gas supplied to an inside of the auxiliary airbag, and that is configured to be deployed between a vehicle width direction inner portion of the main airbag and an instrument panel.
AIRBAG DEVICE
An airbag includes a bag body, an exhaust portion which has an exhaust hole, and a connecting member which is connected to the exhaust portion by the root portion inside the bag body. The bag body includes a main inflatable portion that includes a first and a second side walls which are opposed in a left and right direction at airbag deployment, and a protruding inflatable portion that protrudes partially rearward from a first end region in the left and right direction of an upper region of a rear portion of the main inflatable portion as deployed. The exhaust portion is formed in the first side wall of the main inflatable portion on a side the protruding inflatable portion is disposed, and is positioned farther downward than an apex of the protruding inflatable portion, as viewed from a side of the airbag as deployed.
