A curtain airbag for a vehicle may include: a main chamber installed between a headliner and a vehicle body and provided to be downwardly unfolded to the interior of the vehicle; a diffuser being provided at an inlet portion of the main chamber connected with an inflator, formed with a first outlet and a second outlet which receive and discharge gas from the inflator; and an additional chamber connected with the second outlet of the diffuser and communicated with the second outlet to receive gas from the diffuser and inflated between the headliner and the vehicle body to separate the headliner from the vehicle body. In particular, the diffuser includes a joined portion to close partially or fully the first outlet, and the diffuser increases the gas supply to the main chamber when the joined portion is opened by an internal pressure of the diffuser.

A curtain airbag for a vehicle may include: a main chamber installed between a headliner and a vehicle body and provided to be downwardly unfolded to the interior of the vehicle; a diffuser being provided at an inlet portion of the main chamber connected with an inflator, formed with a first outlet and a second outlet which receive and discharge gas from the inflator; and an additional chamber connected with the second outlet of the diffuser and communicated with the second outlet to receive gas from the diffuser and inflated between the headliner and the vehicle body to separate the headliner from the vehicle body. A gas generator including a diffuser for diffusing inflation gases generated by an inflator of the gas generator. The gas generator includes at least a first mounting stud. The diffuser has a cylindrical sidewall axially extending between first and second axial ends and circumferentially extending between first and second axially extending sides. A gap is defined between the first and second axially extending sides. The cylindrical sidewall includes a plurality of holes radially extend therethrough and includes a slot having a closed end and an open end. The diffuser circumferentially surrounds a portion of the cylindrical housing of the inflator with the first mounting stud disposed in the slot.

A gas generator including a diffuser for diffusing inflation gases generated by an inflator of the gas generator. The gas generator includes at least a first mounting stud. The diffuser has a cylindrical sidewall axially extending between first and second axial ends and circumferentially extending between first and second axially extending sides. A gap is defined between the first and second axially extending sides. The cylindrical sidewall includes a plurality of holes radially extend therethrough and includes a slot having a closed end and an open end. The diffuser circumferentially surrounds a portion of the cylindrical housing of the inflator with the first mounting stud disposed in the slot.

The invention relates to an airbag (10), especially for a side curtain airbag system (20), comprising an airbag interior (30) which in the deployed state of the airbag (10) defines one single chamber (40), wherein the chamber (40) comprises a gas guiding device (50) by which the chamber (40) is divided into at least one primary filling zone (41) and at least one secondary filling zone (42), as well as to a vehicle safety system equipped with such airbag (10).

Inflatable airbag assemblies and methods are disclosed for a vehicle seating position having a utility component or occupant accessory that at least partially extends over a seat of the vehicle seating position. The utility component/occupant accessory may be stowable, and may be adjustable upward-downward, fore-aft, rotationally, etc. The utility component/occupant accessory may house an inflatable airbag cushion of the inflatable airbag assembly, which may deploy in a collision event so as to be disposed between the utility component/occupant accessory and the vehicle seating position.

Inflatable airbag assemblies and methods are disclosed for a vehicle seating position having a utility component or occupant accessory that at least partially extends over a seat of the vehicle seating position. The utility component/occupant accessory may be stowable, and may be adjustable upward-downward, fore-aft, rotationally, etc. The utility component/occupant accessory may house an inflatable airbag cushion of the inflatable airbag assembly, which may deploy in a collision event so as to be disposed between the utility component/occupant accessory and the vehicle seating position.

An airbag apparatus may include: an inflator configured to jet gas in case of a collision of a vehicle; a first cushion inflated by the gas jetted by the inflator, and configured to support the head of a passenger in case of a head-on collision of the vehicle; a second cushion connected to the first cushion so as to be supported by the first cushion, and configured to suppress the head of the passenger from moving in a diagonal direction in case of an oblique collision of the vehicle; a connection tube configured to connect the first and second cushions such that the gas of the inflator moves from the first cushion to the second cushion; and a control tether connected to the first cushion and the connection tube.

An airbag apparatus may include: an inflator configured to jet gas in case of a collision of a vehicle; a first cushion inflated by the gas jetted by the inflator, and configured to support the head of a passenger in case of a head-on collision of the vehicle; a second cushion connected to the first cushion so as to be supported by the first cushion, and configured to suppress the head of the passenger from moving in a diagonal direction in case of an oblique collision of the vehicle; a connection tube configured to connect the first and second cushions such that the gas of the inflator moves from the first cushion to the second cushion; and a control tether connected to the first cushion and the connection tube.
