Hybrid airbag inflator
A hybrid airbag inflator (100, 200) has a disk-shaped pressure vessel having a central axis with a domed upper housing portion (20) with a sealed exhaust port (22) for releasing inflation gases and a domed lower body portion (10) welded to the domed upper housing portion (20). The domed lower body portion (10) has one or more protrusions (12) extending from an outer or exterior surface positioned offset from the center axis. At least one of the protrusions (12) houses an igniter assembly (60) with accessible electrical connections (61, 63). The disk-shaped pressure vessel inflator (100, 200) contains gas generant pellets (2) and a quantity of pressurized inert gas (1) for inflating an airbag. The combination of the protrusions (12) and domed lower body portion (10) has a unique profile of a petaloid shape. Optionally, the domed upper housing portion (20) can also have the petaloid shape.

GAS GENERATOR AND AIRBAG MODULE
A gas generator including an outer vessel including a housing provided with a gas discharge port, the outer vessel accommodating therein an igniter and a gas generating agent, wherein any of surfaces of the outer vessel includes an annular fragile portion, and the annular fragile portion is a groove formed in a continuous annular shape or a groove formed in a discontinuous annular shape.
Initiator for an automotive safety device
An initiator assembly for an automotive safety device includes a tubular housing with a first end and a second end. A cruciform formed in the second end of the tubular housing is designed to open when the initiator fires. A pyrotechnic load is disposed within the tubular housing at the second end, the pyrotechnic load is formed to define a void comprising an open end and a tip. The void includes sides that extend from the open end to the tip and angle toward the second end of the tubular housing and angle toward a longitudinal axis of the tubular housing. The sides of the void can transition into a tip portion of the void that comprises a geometry distinct from that of the sides.
Gas generator
A gas generator includes, a housing having a top plate, a bottom plate, and a circumferential wall having a gas discharge port. In the housing, a cylindrical member having a first communication hole in a circumferential wall is disposed along an axis of the housing. In the cylindrical member, an igniter attached to the bottom plate and a transfer charge charged in a space accommodating the igniter are provided. A cup-shaped member including a bottom surface, a circumferential wall, and an opening is disposed such that the circumferential wall is abutted against an inner wall surface of the cylindrical member. The opening is located opposing the top plate and the bottom surface has a second communication hole facing the transfer charge. A gas generating agent is charged in a space outside and inside the cylindrical member, and an annular sealing member abuts against the bottom surface and the inner wall.
