SPRING BUMPER ASSEMBLY FOR AN ADJUSTABLE STEERING COLUMN
A steering column with an energy absorbing assembly. The steering column comprising a first jacket and a second jacket that is axially movable with respect to the first jacket. The second jacket includes a window. The energy absorbing apparatus includes a lock cam located in the window and connected to the second jacket and a strap body that is connected to the first jacket. The lock cam includes a toothed portion for selective engagement with the strap body. The energy absorbing apparatus includes at least one of a cam spring located between the lock cam and an edge of the window or a bumper.
ENERGY ABSORBING ASSEMBLY FOR AN ADJUSTABLE STEERING COLUMN
An axially adjustable steering column including a first jacket and a second jacket that is axially movable with respect to the first jacket. The second jacket includes a window and the first jacket includes a connector opening. An energy absorbing assembly includes a lock cam that is located in the window and connected to the second jacket and a strap body that is connected to the first jacket with a fastener extending through the strap body and the connector opening. The connector opening includes a ramp for ejecting the fastener from engagement with the first jacket.
ENERGY ABSORBING APPARATUS
A steering column that includes a first jacket and a second jacket that is axially movable with respect to the first jacket. An energy absorbing apparatus is located between the first jacket and the second jacket. The energy absorbing apparatus includes a strap body that extends between a first end and a second end. A curved portion is located between the first end and the second end and a spring segment is configured to bias the curved portion towards the first end when the connector strap is fixed to a jacket of the steering column.
Steering column for a motor vehicle
A steering column may include a casing pipe disposed longitudinally movably in a casing unit, a steering spindle rotatably supported about a longitudinal axis in the casing pipe, and a clamping device configurable in a fixing position for securing the casing unit relative to the casing pipe. The clamping device may have an engagement element supported on the casing pipe, having an upper side parallel to the longitudinal axis, and having lateral edge sides. The clamping device may have a locking element supported in the longitudinal direction on the casing unit and that can be moved to adjust the fixing position in a normal direction of the upper side against the engagement element. Positive-locking elements on the locking and engagement elements are engageable to produce a positive-locking connection in the longitudinal direction, at least some of which are disposed on an edge side of the engagement element.
STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY
A steering column assembly includes an energy absorption assembly, an adjustment lever, and a rocker member. The energy absorption assembly has an energy absorption strap and a cam member. The adjustment lever is operatively connected to at least one of the upper jacket assembly and the lower jacket assembly. The rocker member has a rocker member body that extends between a first end connected to the adjustment lever and a second end configured to engage the cam member.
Steering column assembly having an energy absorption strap assembly
A steering column assembly includes a jacket assembly and an energy absorption strap assembly. The energy absorption strap assembly has a first energy absorption strap and a second energy absorption strap. The first energy absorption strap has a first strap body that extends between a first strap first end and a first strap second end. The first strap body defines a first opening and a second opening. The second energy absorption strap has a second strap body that extends between a second strap first end and a second strap second end. The second strap first end is at least partially received within the first opening and the second strap second end is at least partially received within the second opening.
Steering device
In a steering device according to an aspect of the present disclosure, a driven cam includes a lock position restriction surface with which a cam portion of a drive cam engages in a locked state and a release position restriction surface that is provided to be separated front the lock position restriction surface in a bolt circumferential direction and that engages with the drive cam in the bolt circumferential direction in an unlocked state. The cam portion includes a sliding surface that faces the driven cam in the unlocked state and a flank surface that faces the release position restriction surface in the bolt circumferential direction. The angle of the flank surface with respect to the bolt circumferential direction is smaller than the angle of the release position restriction surface with respect to the bolt circumferential direction.
Steering column assembly
A steering column assembly for a vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle, provides that an absorption part extends into a reduction part through a passage, which has a smaller cross-section than an end portion of the absorption part having the form of a rod, tube or wire. By a relative movement between the reduction part and the absorption part the end portion is pulled through the passage and plastically deformed. In such a way, an energy absorption device is formed.
STEERING COLUMN DEVICE
The release capsule includes a sleeve having a through-hole for inserting therein a fastening member configured to fix the vehicle body mounting bracket to the vehicle body and to be arranged in the notch groove, a sliding plate having a hole formed thereon, in which the sleeve is to be inserted, and configured to sandwich the vehicle body mounting bracket, and an fixing part and a lock member each provided at an end portion and the other end portion of the sleeve so as to sandwich the sliding plate and the vehicle body mounting bracket. The sleeve includes a male screw formed on a cylindrical part thereof. The male screw of the sleeve is configured to be screwed with a female screw formed at a round hole of the lock member. The sliding plate and the vehicle body mounting bracket are sandwiched by the fixing part and the lock member.
Steering System
A column jacket can pivot in a tilt direction around an end of a steering shaft along with the steering shaft. When the column jacket is pivoted in the tilt direction, an engaging member moves in the tilt direction along with the column jacket. A position fixing mechanism has a pair of fixing members located adjacent to opposite ends of an engaged member in a longitudinal direction to fix the position of the engaged member in the tilt direction. The position fixing mechanism fixes the position of the column jacket in the tilt direction by engaging the engaged member with the engaging member. At a time of a secondary collision, the engaged member engaged with the engaging member breaks a front fixing member.
