Low weight closure having an improved gripping surface
10407220 · 2019-09-10 · ·

A closure includes a top panel and a corner section connecting an outer periphery of the top panel with a downwardly extending annular skirt. A plurality of gently curved ridges are spaced about the outer perimeter of the closure. The ridges generally extend from a lower portion of the skirt and around the corner section, with the upper ends of the ridges terminating proximate the top panel outer periphery. A plurality of knurls extend radially outwards from the midpoints of the ridges along the skirt of the closure. The configuration, arrangement, and spacing of the ridges and knurls about the closure provide an enhanced grip and feel, allowing for easier twist-off of the closure from a container. The closure may be used interchangeably with existing capping chucks used to apply conventional closures without requiring any modification to the capping chucks to apply the closures to containers during a capping process.

Closure with 2-stage tag

A closure includes a top wall portion, an annular skirt portion depending from the top wall portion and a tamper-evident band. The skirt portion includes an internal thread formation. The tamper-evident band depends from and is at least partially detachably connected to the skirt portion by a frangible connection. The closure further includes a 2-stage tag imbedded therein. The 2-stage tag includes an antenna, a switch with a plurality of leads, and a chip or integrated circuit. The current path of the switch is interrupted after the tamper-evident band has been at least partially broken from the skirt portion. The chip stores first and second readable codes that correspond to unopened and opened positions. The frangible connection extends through the 2-stage tag and includes at least two bridges.

Container lid having oxygen shielding properties

An oxygen-shielding container lid according to the present invention comprises a high density polyethylene cap shell 1 having a skirt section 7 and a top plate section 5 provided with an inner ring 9 for intimate contact with an inner surface of a container mouth; and an in-shell molded body 3 provided in a portion of an inner surface of the top plate section which is surrounded with the inner ring 9. The in-shell molded body 3 is composed of a primary molded body 3a which has been formed by in-shell molding on the inner surface of the top plate section and which has an oxygen shielding function; and a secondary molded body 3b which has been formed on the primary molded body 3a by in-shell molding so as to cover the primary molded body 3a and to be fused and fixed to the inner surface of the top plate section at the peripheral edge of the primary molded body. A resin composition used for formation of the secondary molded body 3b contains linear low density polyethylene, and has a melt flow rate at 190? C. of 1 to 10 g/10 minutes, a density of 0.900 to 0.920 g/cm.sup.3, and a nominal tensile strain at break, as defined by JIS K-6922-2, of 400% or more.

A closure includes a polymeric top wall portion, a polymeric annular skirt portion, a polymeric continuous plug seal and a polymeric top seal. The annular skirt portion depends from the polymeric top wall portion. The annular skirt portion includes an internal thread formation for mating engagement with an external thread formation of a container. The polymeric annular skirt portion includes an interior surface and an exterior surface. The plug seal depends from the polymeric top wall portion. The continuous plug seal is spaced from the interior surface of the polymeric annular skirt portion. The top seal includes sealing gussets integrally connected thereto. The top seal and the sealing gussets depend from the polymeric top wall portion. The top seal and sealing gussets are located between and spaced from the plug seal and the annular skirt portion.

Spout stopper and packaging container

Provided are a spout stopper that prevents a decrease in sealing performance to a cap without deterioration of liquid-shutting-off performance of a stopper body, and a packaging container using the spout stopper. The spout stopper includes: a stopper body including a cylindrical side wall; and a cap to be mounted from an upper end side that is one end of the side wall. A projection is formed at an upper end edge of the side wall so as to project outward from the side wall, and a top surface at an upper end of the side wall is in surface contact with a predetermined contact surface inside a cap over an entire circumference thereof in a state where the cap is mounted on the side wall.

A closure assembly (20) that includes a cap or overcap (28) and a fitment (24) for a container is provided wherein the fitment (24) has a laterally projecting shear member (40), and the overcap (28) has an aperture (74) for initially receiving the shear member (40) when the overcap (28) and fitment (24) are in an initially assembled orientation or condition. The aperture (74) and the shear member (40) cooperate in the initially assembled orientation such that when subjected to a flow of a sterilizing gas, turbulence is created in the sterilizing gas flow to enhance sterilization of the combination. The closure assembly (20) may, instead, or additionally, be provided wherein the overcap (28) has an elongate, hollow plug (58) for establishing a first seal between the fitment (24) and the overcap (28) in the initially assembled orientation, and the wherein overcap (28) has a skirt (50) for establishing a second seal between the fitment (24) and the overcap (28) in the initially assembled orientation.
