The piercing apparatus further includes a piercer composed of a rigid material that is connected to the inner ring by a plurality of arms that radially extend from the piercer to the inner ring. The plurality of arms define a plurality of openings between the arms. The outer ring includes a protrusion that circumferentially protrudes outward from an outer surface of the outer ring.

The cap includes a first releaser for opening the flavor container into the bottle when the cap is being screwed onto the mouth of the bottle. The cap further includes a carbon dioxide container and a second releaser for opening the carbon dioxide container into the bottle when the outer cap and the inner cap are being screwed relative to each other. The disclosed embodiments also relate to a method for making a soft drink.

Rotary closure includes a separately fillable capsule with a foil seal, for the insertion of this capsule into this rotary closure. The container attachment at the inside forms a downwardly projecting sleeve with an inwardly projecting edge region whose clear width is spanned at the bottom by a diametric saw blade which projects upwards with its cutting teeth. The capsule in the inside is firstly driven axially downwards on rotating the rotary closure cap and with its sealing foil is pressed over the saw blade, by which means it is diammetrically cut open. On further rotation, it lies on the lower inner edge of the inner-lying sleeve in the container attachment and is then rotated without an axial movement. The sealing foil is thereby cut open, and the foil pieces are gathered together in a corrugated manner.

A solid dosage preparation is provided with a bottle of water. The solid dosage preparation is contained in a safe and sanitary blister package and attached by means of a shrink band to the closure of the bottle. The shrink band provides a tamper-indicating seal for the both the bottle and blister contents. An advantage of the design is that it does not require customization of bottle and closure tooling, and thereby provides a simple and cost-effective means for combining solid and liquid materials in a unitary package. An additional advantage is the robustness of the tamper-indicating system and methodology.

There is a threaded portion disposed on an inner surface of the cylindrical member for engaging a threaded end of such bottle. A capsule like device is disposed inside the cylindrical member adjacent the closed end for retaining a substance to be dispensed into a beverage in such bottle. A device for piercing the capsule engages each of the threaded portion of the bottle cap and the capsule for piercing the capsule as the universal bottle cap is threaded onto such bottle thereby releasing contents of the capsule into such beverage for mixing therewith.
