PACKAGE WITH TAMPER-EVIDENT FEATURE
A container closure in accordance with the present disclosure is coupled to a tamper-evident tear strip. The container closure is adapted to be mated with a container to cover an interior region formed in the container and to provide a package.
PACKAGE
An ovenable package comprises an ovenable receptacle configured to hold a food product. The receptacle has an open face surrounded by a rim. An ovenable laminated film lid is attached to the rim of the receptacle by a welded seal between a lower face of the laminated film lid and the rim of the receptacle. The laminated film lid comprises a first layer, a second layer above the first layer and a resealable adhesive between the first and second layers. An unopened package is openable by separating the second layer from the first layer in a peripheral region. The opened package can be reclosed to a ventable state by reattaching the second layer to the peripheral region of the first layer by the resealable adhesive. The ventable state permits venting of gas from an interior of the receptacle between the second layer and the peripheral region of the first layer.
Venting system for ovenable containers
The invention comprises an ovenable packaging structure having an integral one-way valve. The laminate structure comprises an outer layer having a cut line which defines a flap that is separable from the outer layer, wherein the outer layer is adhered to an inner layer having a cut line which is offset from the outer cut line and defines a portion that is separable from the inner layer along the inner cut line and defines an opening into the packaging structure. The adhesive between the layers comprises, in an embodiment, a channel of pressure sensitive adhesive which surrounds both the outer cut line and the inner cut line, wherein the channel of pressure sensitive adhesive defines the perimeter of at least one adhesive-free valve chamber within said channel. The valve chamber comprises at least a portion of the outer cut line and the inner cut line.
RESEALABLE CONTAINER
A container including a tray and a lidding film is provided. The lidding film is removably coupled to the tray and includes a breakable layer, a lidding layer coupled to the breakable layer, and a PSA layer. A reseal portion of the breakable layer is sealed to a flange of the tray. The PSA layer is arranged between the lidding layer and the breakable layer. The PSA layer includes a reseal portion to adhere to the reseal portion of the breakable layer. The reseal portion of the breakable layer separates from an inner portion when the container is initially opened such that the reseal portion of the breakable layer remains sealed to the flange and the inner portion of the breakable layer remains coupled to the lidding layer. The container is resealed by adhering the reseal portion of the PSA layer to the reseal portion of the breakable layer.
FLEXIBLE PACKAGING STRUCTURE WITH A BUILT-IN OPENING AND RECLOSE FEATURE
A flexible packaging laminate is formed to have a built-in opening and reclose feature by forming the laminate as a two-part structure having an outer structure joined in face-to-face relation with an inner structure. Score lines are formed in both structures to enable an opening to be formed through the laminate by lifting an opening portion (e.g., a flap or the like) of the two structures out of the plane of the laminate. The score line through the outer structure defines a larger opening than the score line through the inner structure, such that a marginal region of the outer structure extends beyond the edge of the opening portion of the inner structure. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is used to re-adhere the marginal region to an underlying surface of the inner structure adjacent the opening through the laminate.
RESEALABLE FILM
The present invention relates to a resealable container comprising: a polyethylene terephthalate-based container body comprising a bottom side and at least one upwardly extending sidewall, wherein the sidewall terminates in an open end of the container; a flexible film sealed to the container body, over the open end of the container, wherein the flexible film comprises: a polyethylene-based first film layer; a pressure sensitive adhesive layer adjacent a lower surface of the first film layer; a polyolefin plastomer skin layer adjacent a lower surface of the pressure sensitive adhesive layer, wherein the first layer, pressure sensitive adhesive layer, and skin layer are coextruded; and a heat seal layer printed onto a lower surface of the skin layer and heat sealed to the container body.
POLYBUTENE-1 IN EXTRUSION COATING FOR CONTROLLED PEEL FORCES
A peelable sealing composition for a sealing layer on extrusion coated packaging is described. The peelable sealing composition combines 10 to about 40 wt. % of polybutene-1 with a at least one polyolefin, and can be extrusion coated as a sealing layer directly onto a substrate, or coextruded with intermediate polymer layers onto a substrate. The resulting sealing layer can be heat sealed to allow for a controlled open package.
RESEALBLE PACKAGING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR PACKAGING FOOD PRODUCT
A packaging device incorporating a breathable peel/reseal film and enabling a preservation process for allowing for the distribution, storage and multiple servings of a food product, particularly perishable food product(s), and initiating and controlling the transmission rates, respiration rates or deterioration of the perishable food product(s) and thereby, maintaining good internal and external food quality and normal development of flavor and aroma characteristics. The packaging device includes a plurality of atmospheric control attributes that modulates or controls the atmosphere within the packaging device as the food product(s) respire in order to promote the extended shelf-life of the food product and the maintenance of the quality and desirable marketable characteristics of the food product. The atmospheric control attributes can include perforations that may be positioned in breathable peel/reseal film portion of the package to allow the product respiration for multiple servings without substantially altering the shelf life extension properties of the packaging device.
COOKING METHOD AND APPARATUS
An ovenable cooking apparatus for facilitating the cooking of food components while maintaining the separateness thereof may include a first container for holding a first food component, and a second container for holding a second food component. The separation of the first food component from the second food component maintains the surface area for the first and second food components to facilitate heating of the first and second food components. The first food component may have a liquid based content for producing steam when heated, and one or both of the first container and the second container may define a passage for providing airflow and steam flow for contacting the second container and/or the second foodstuff and heating or steaming the second food component. Additionally, the second container may be steam impermeable for cooking bread and the like.
