SHREDDED RECYCLED CARDBOARD FILLED PACKAGING CUSHION AND METHOD OF MAKING PACKAGING CUSHION USING RECYCLED CARDBOARD MATERIAL
A packaging cushion includes a pouch that defines a hollow interior space. The pouch is made of a paper material. A fill material is contained within the hollow interior space of the pouch. The fill material consists of loose, used packaging material.
PAPERBOARD PROTECTIVE CORNER AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A paperboard protective corner and a method for manufacturing a paperboard protective corner, the paperboard protective corner comprising: a corner body made of a single paperboard sheet comprising first and second side edges, the single paperboard sheet being folded onto itself to form the paperboard protective corner, the single paperboard sheet including a plurality of folds, both the first and second side edges being received in a corresponding fold so as to be unexposed to an exterior of the paperboard protective corner.
Bound pad of expandable slit-sheet stock material
A bound pad presents a compact and convenient form of providing a two-ply construction that includes a slit-sheet stock material that may be positioned on or hung from a flat surface at the end-user's site. The bound pad includes sheets of slit-sheet stock material that are interleafed with non-die cut separator sheets. The sheets are bound together adjacent one edge, and may be weakened adjacent the bound edge to facilitate their removal from the bound pad during use. A user creates tension by pulling a free edge of the sheet of slit sheet material away from the bound edge, thereby expanding the slit material sheet to form an expanded packaging material. The user places an article on the bound pad, wraps the article in the sheets, and tears the sheets to remove the wrapped article from the bound pad.
Corrugated alternating displacement cushion
A corrugated alternate displacement cushion may be formed from a corrugated cardboard sheet having cutout rows of cutout sections that are spaced in the transverse direction across the corrugated cardboard sheet and separated by corresponding lands. The cutout sections of adjacent cutout rows do not overlap in the transverse direction. When the corrugated cardboard sheet is folded up around transverse creases, inner and outer sides of the cutout sections may be covered by lands of other cutout rows such that air pockets defined by the cutout sections are formed within the corrugated alternate displacement cushion.
Corner boards, container assemblies including the same, and methods of making and using the same
A corner board includes first and second sides, each including a board material; a bend between the first and second sides, joining first and second sides together; and a slit adjacent to a first end of the corner board, the slit completely crossing the bend and partially crossing the first and second sides. In addition, a method of manufacturing a corner board includes bending a board stock to form first and second sides of the corner board with an angle therebetween; cutting the board stock into fixed lengths, the bent and cut board stock forming the corner board; and forming a slit near a first end of the corner board. The present corner board may be advantageously rested or placed along a vertical edge of a container or stack of containers.
Methods and apparatus for manufacturing fiber-based, foldable packaging assemblies
Methods and systems for shipping original design manufacturer (ODM) boxes. The system includes: a plurality of corner sets, each comprising at least two fiber cushions; a plurality of end cap sets, each comprising two opposing corrugated sleeves; and a graphical guide comprising and end cap selector and a corner selector. The graphical guide is configured to allow a user to: compare an ODM box to the end cap selector to thereby select one of the plurality of end cap sets; and compare the ODM box to the corner selector to thereby select one of the plurality of end corner sets. Each sleeve comprises a plurality of height score lines, a plurality of width score lines, and a support feature to stabilize the sleeve during folding.
Angle edge protector
An edge protector for disposition along an angled edge of an article includes a pair of interior walls; the walls being integrally joined in angular relation to one another at an interior edge when the angle edge protector is in an in-use configuration disposed along the angled edge of the article; a first exterior wall connected to an end of one of the pair of interior walls; and, a first arcuate wall having a first end integrally joined with the first exterior wall, the first arcuate wall having a curvature such that a second end of the first arcuate wall is proximate the interior edge when the angle edge protector is in the in-use configuration. Preferably, there are two arcuate portions, and the edge protector is symmetrical.
Apparatus and Method for Making Corner Boards for Container Assemblies
An apparatus and method for manufacturing a notched corner board is disclosed. The method includes cutting bent board stock into fixed lengths; forming a slit in or near an end of the corner board; and bending/folding a part of the corner board between the end and the slit to create a notch or flap in the corner board. The apparatus includes one or more cutting tools configured to form a slit in or near a first end of the corner board, a support block configured to support the corner board as the slit is formed, one or more rollers configured to move the corner board towards the cutting tool(s), a frame to which the cutting tool(s), the support block, and the roller(s) are directly or indirectly attached, a motor, and a punch. The motor controls movement of the punch to form the notch in the corner board.
PRODUCT PACKAGING SYSTEM
A product packaging system in one embodiment includes a stack of products defining a pair of opposing major side surfaces, a top surface, a bottom surface, and pair of opposing end surfaces; protective corrugated sheets covering two or more of the stack side, top, and bottom surfaces; and a protective end pad covering each of the stack end surfaces. Each protective corrugated sheet includes a pair of longitudinally-extending and protruding corner reinforcement structures disposed along corner regions of the stack. The reinforcement structures are three-dimensional structures having different possible configurations which provide crush-resistance in the assembled product package. The product package collectively comprising the foregoing components is insertable into an outer shipping carton for transit. Some embodiments include banding which holds the stack of products together. In one embodiment, the products may be mirrors.
Supply of cushioning material for wrapping at least one object
A supply of cushioning material for wrapping at least one object comprises a stack formed of a multitude of prefabricated sheets of three-dimensional cushioning material. The invention proposes that adjacent sheets are connected to each other by means of a releasable adhesive system, the adhesive system being designed such that the connection can be released without auxiliary means, i.e. without special heat exposure and without chemicals and without special tools simply by mechanical action, and non-destructively, i.e. without damaging the cushioning material.
