Guided cable storage assembly with switchbacks

A cable handling assembly is adapted to store and pay-out a telecommunications cable. The assembly includes first and second sets of pulleys, a housing, and a cable route. The first and second sets of pulleys are spaced from each other by a take-up distance that decreases upon the cable being paid-out. The housing supports the pulleys and also guides the pulleys as the take-up distance changes. The cable route is routed between the first and second sets of pulleys. A stack of pulley sets may be formed and may include at least one intermediate pulley set positioned between the first and second pulley sets. The cable route is routed between adjacent pulley sets of the stack of pulley sets. A route length decreases as the take-up distance decreases. A rack unit for organizing a plurality of telecommunications cables in a telecommunications rack may include a plurality of the cable handling assemblies. At least one of the cable handling assemblies may include a retraction apparatus that further adapts the at least one cable handling assembly to retract the corresponding telecommunications cable.

Gyroglider power-generation, control apparatus and method

A power generation apparatus and method comprises at least one gyroglider rotary wing flying at an altitude above the nap of the earth. A strong and flexible tether, connected to the gyroglider frame is pulled with a force generated by the rotary wing. The force is transmitted to a ground station that converts the comparatively linear motion of the tether being pulled upward with a lifting force. The linear motion is transferred to a rotary motion at the ground station to rotate an electrical generator. The tether is retrieved and re-coiled about a drum by controlling the gyroglider to fly down at a speed and lift force that permit recovery of the gyroglider at a substantially reduced amount of retrieval force compared to the lifting force during payout of the tether. Thus, the net difference in force results in a net gain of energy.

A mechanism for winding a cord includes a storage space in which a cord is wound around a central axis. The storage space includes a first storage space which is provided to allow the cord to be wound in one row, in a predetermined direction intersecting a direction of the central axis, and has a first height in a direction perpendicular to the predetermined direction that is substantially the same as a diameter of the cord, and a second storage space which is provided on one or both of an outer circumference and an inner circumference of the first storage space, has a second height along the direction of the central axis that is at least twice the diameter of the cord, and is provided to allow the cord to be wound in a plurality of rows along the central axis.

Coordinated Dynamic Braking and Swivel-Aiming Feature for Reel Utility

A vehicle-mounted reel utility. A brake wheel is macro-positioned to a non-contact position adjacent to the reel by sliding along a reel-supporting lifting arm. An actuator pivots the brake bracket bringing the wheel into a contact position with the reel. A cable dispenser for figure 8'ing the cable is mounted to the free end of a positioning arm that rotates from a position parallel to a lifting arm to a position perpendicular to the lifting arm. The dispenser is pivotally mounted to the positioning arm, allowing the user to swivel the dispenser about a horizontal arc while maintaining the dispenser in a central lateral position relative to a reel or a vehicle during the swivel movement. A hydraulic circuit controls the dispenser and the actuator that controls the brake wheel from a contact to non-contact position, to coordinate the stopping of cable dispensing.

Reel type display device and reel structure

A reel type display device includes a shell with an accommodating space and an opening; a rotation shaft rotatably disposed in the accommodating space; a flexible screen having a connecting end connected to the rotation shaft and a retractable end configured to be retractable relative to the opening; and a driving mechanism, wherein two grooves opposite to each other are formed on an inner surface of the shell and extend along a second direction, and two end portions of the rotation shaft are in sliding fit with the two grooves, respectively. The driving mechanism is configured to drive the rotation shaft to translate along the two grooves according to a retractable state of the flexible screen, so that the portion of the flexible screen unwound from the rotation shaft extends along a first direction, wherein the second direction is perpendicular to a central axis direction of the rotation shaft.

A gap, in which the cover is limited to being movable, is formed between the limiting board and the platform. The top surface has a grooved opening, and a lever is arranged on an inner edge thereof. The side wall is disposed along an edge of the top surface. The sliding area is formed between the inner edge of the grooved opening and the annular wall.

System and method for a retractable reel safety flags on a strap

In a particular illustrative embodiment of the present invention, a retractable safety banner system and method are disclosed having a retractable safety banner, a reel housing and a reel. The reel winds in and contains the wound up safety banner inside of the reel housing. The safety banner is reeled into and out of the reel housing through an organizing guide that is formed in the reel housing. The organizing guide forces the reeled out safety banner's flags and strap into longitudinal alignment on the reel so that the safety banner is restored to its original configuration when wound back into the reel housing after deployment. The safety banner includes but is not limited to longitudinal strap with a plurality of safety flags attached to the strap and so that the flags hang at a substantially perpendicular angle from the strap forming the safety banner when the safety banner is deployed.
