An image forming apparatus includes a housing in which an image forming section is contained and a paper output section into which a sheet of paper on which an image has been formed is ejected. The paper output section includes a paper output tray that supports the front side or back side of the sheet of paper, a back-end supporting member that supports a back end of the sheet of paper in a paper ejection direction, and a paper takeout slot through which the sheet of paper is taken out. The paper output section is provided at the outer edge of the interior of the housing. The housing has an external wall whose inner face side is used as the paper output tray. The paper takeout slot opens upward.

A medium stacking apparatus comprises a stacking roller for stacking a medium in a stacking space, a supporting part for supporting a lower portion of the medium transferred by the stacking roller, a plurality of stacking guides for supporting the medium disposed on the supporting part in a standing state, a plurality of moving devices for moving the plurality of stacking guides, and a control part controlling the plurality of moving devices. The control part controls the plurality of moving devices to move a second stacking guide toward a first stacking guide to allow the stacked medium to stands up in a state where the medium is supported by the first stacking guide of the plurality of stacking guides.

The present invention is directed to providing a banknote stacking apparatus capable of stably stacking banknotes even when various types of banknotes are stacked therein by preventing banknotes stacked in the banknote stacking space from being blown away. The banknote stacking apparatus includes a stacker for stacking banknotes in the banknote stacking space; a push plate for supporting the banknotes stacked in the banknote stacking space and be movable in a reciprocating direction; a stack guide configured to guide the banknote which passes the stacker to be loaded into the banknote stacking space; a damper configured to press the banknote introduced into one side of the banknote stacking space toward the push plate located on the other side of the banknote stacking space; and a damper driver operating the damper to move in a direction toward the banknote stacking space and a direction away from the banknote stacking space.

In an image forming apparatus, a discharge roller discharges a sheet conveyed by a first conveying path. The discharge roller switches between: a mode of conveying a sheet in a sheet discharging direction to discharge a sheet; and a mode of reversing a direction of conveying a sheet from the sheet discharging direction and feeding a sheet to a re-conveying path. A pivot plate at an open position constitutes a second conveying path. The pivot plate at a closed position closes the second conveying path. The pivot plate is provided with a penetrating portion penetrating the pivot plate over an entire thickness of the pivot plate. The penetrating portion constitutes part of the re-conveying path when the pivot plate is disposed at the closed position. Part of the pivot plate is exposed outside the housing.

A medium housing device includes: a frame including an internal space; a partitioning plate that partitions the internal space so as to intersect with a specific collection direction, and that forms a collection space in which the medium is collected along the collection direction; a partitioning plate moving section that moves the partitioning plate along the collection direction; a side guide that is attached inside the frame and that determines the size of the collection space in an intersecting direction intersecting with the collection direction; a positioning portion that positions an end portion of the side guide at one attachment position selected from a plurality of attachment positions; and a retention switching portion that switches between a retained state in which the end portion of the side guide is positioned, and a retention-released state in which the end portion of the side guide is not positioned.

A paper sheet insertion apparatus (for example, depositing and dispensing unit 20) includes an imaging unit (for example, camera 60) that takes an image of an interior of the paper sheet handling machine 10 to obtain image data and a control unit (for example, depositing and dispensing unit control unit 72) that is provided inside the machine body of the paper sheet handling machine 10 and outputs information on foreign material other than the paper sheet and information on a constituent member of the paper sheet insertion apparatus, based on the image data obtained by the imaging unit.

A paper sheet insertion apparatus (for example, depositing and dispensing unit 20) includes: an imaging unit (for example, camera 60) configured to take an image of a side edge portion, on a placement member 23a side, of paper sheets placed in a placement unit 22, or a side edge portion, on a side opposite to the placement member 23a side, of the paper sheets placed in the placement unit 22, to obtain image data; and a control unit (for example, depositing and dispensing unit control unit 72) configured to determine, based on the image data obtained by the imaging unit, whether or not a plurality of the paper sheets placed in the placement unit are bundled by a bundling member.

A document bundler for a bill validator includes a document path, a transportation unit, and a clamp mechanism. The transportation unit is adapted to move a plurality of documents in series through the document path. The clamp mechanism includes a pushing member. The clamp mechanism is adapted to clamp a first document of the plurality of documents with the pushing member to inhibit movement of the first document by the transportation unit while a second document of the plurality of documents is transported substantially alongside the first document in the document path. The cash automatic transaction device has a depositing/dispensing port used for depositing/dispensing of banknotes, and a banknote storage box for storage of deposited/dispensed banknotes. The depositing/dispensing port has depositing/dispensing space to store the deposited/dispensed banknotes, and accumulation space in which the banknote is accumulated upon dispensing. The width of the depositing/dispensing space is smaller than the exit and entrance width of the storage box, while the width of the accumulation space is greater than the exit and entrance width of the storage box.

A medium handover device is provided including: a fixed peripheral side section that covers portions of side faces enclosing a periphery of a collection space in which a paper sheet shaped medium is collected, other than at least a portion of an opposing side face opposing a medium support section supporting the medium inside the collection space, which portion is open, and other than at least a portion of an adjacent side face adjacent to the opposing side face, which portion is open; a lid section that has a shape covering portions of the side faces enclosing the periphery of the collection space that are not covered by the fixed peripheral side section; a transition section that transitions the lid section to enable the lid section to adopt a closed state with respect to the fixed peripheral side section in which the lid section is close to or abutting the fixed peripheral side section and the collection space is closed, and to adopt an open state with respect to the fixed peripheral side section in which at least a portion of the lid section is separated from the fixed peripheral side section and the collection space is opened; and a transfer section that transfers the medium between an interior and an exterior of the collection space.
