Dispenser apparatus and method of use for laminating and dispensing transfer tape in a paper web turn-up system

An apparatus and method for assembling, dispensing and using a laminated paper web transfer tape, an embodiment of the apparatus having a pair of transfer tape spools enclosed within a cartridge dispenser, one transfer tape spool containing a first tape component of the laminated transfer tape and the other transfer tape spool containing a second tape component of the laminated transfer tape, the first tape component being the combination of a substrate having adhesive on both sides and a release liner, the second tape component being a cover flap member having a release coating over at least a majority of one side. The components are unwound from the spools and pressed together such that they become joined along a longitudinal edge strip, then dispensed from the housing. The cover flap member covers one of the adhesive sides of the transfer tape substrate until the moment just prior to transfer of a continuous paper web from a full web spool to an empty web spool, the cover flap member being opened to expose the adhesive by air pressure or resistance. The cartridge dispenser is removed retained within a dispenser frame.

Apparatus and Method for Changing a Reel and Connecting a New Material Web to an End of an Old Material Web

The invention relates to a device for changing a reel and for connecting a new material web to the end of an old material web, with a first reel (101) from which the first material web thereof which is wound thereon can be unwound, a transport device (103), particularly a transport roller, by means of which the first material web can be guided in a guiding region at a transport speed, a second reel (121) with which the new material web can be prepared, a drive device for rotatably driving the second reel, a separating device (142) for cutting through the first material web, by means of which the material web can be cut through in the guiding region or upstream of the guiding region in order to produce a trailing end, and a control and/or regulating device for the mutual adjustment of the trailing end and the beginning (125) of the second material web, such that the trailing end and the beginning of the web are at a distance of more than 0 mm from each other and particularly do not overlap. The trailing end and the beginning of the new material web can be connected to each other in the guiding region of the transport device by means of a connection element, and the transport speed of the trailing end and the beginning of the web corresponds to more than 0 meter per minute in the guiding region.

Splice Tape with Internal, Interlayer Separation Interface

A splice tape is provided. The splice tape includes two internal support layers bonded at interface between opposing inner surfaces of the internal support layers. The support layers are formed utilizing a process and/or materials that ensure that the two internal support layers separate cleanly and consistently along the interface of the two internal support layers.

Devices, methods, and systems for splicing a trailing edge of an outgoing roll with a leading edge of a replacement roll with a lapless butt splice on-the-fly during converting and printing production. A first strip of adhesive tape may be placed partially under the leading edge, such that a portion of the adhesive tape remains exposed beyond the leading edge. The replacement roll may be accelerated to match the speed of the outgoing web's movement, a trailing edge of the outgoing web may be cut free from the outgoing roll, and the trailing edge of the outgoing roll may be positioned over the exposed portion of the adhesive tape. A second strip of adhesive tape may be applied over the leading edge and trailing edge using a splicer roller timed to apply the tape when the edges pass proximate to the splicer roller.
