A CORELESS ROLL AND A MANUFACTURING METHOD
A coreless roll of absorbent sheet products is made of a spirally wound web of absorbent substrate including at least two superposed plies of absorbent substrate, the web of absorbent substrate being wound such as to define an axial hollow passageway centrally positioned relatively to the coreless roll and extending from one edge to another edge of the coreless roll. The web of absorbent substrate further includes a stiffening insert, the stiffening insert being inserted in-between two superposed plies of absorbent substrate, the stiffening insert being positioned such as to line the axial hollow passageway, the stiffening insert having a length such that the stiffening insert extends at least around three quarter of a circumference of the passageway, preferably substantially completely around a circumference of the passageway.
Clasp for Producing Coreless Roll Products
A clasp has a prong and a housing with clamping wedges and actuator wedges. The clamping wedges are spaced circumferentially around the prong within the housing and moveable within the housing via the actuator wedges. In a disengaged position, the clamping wedges are spaced radially outwardly from the outer surface of the prong at a distance sufficient such that a tube is insertable between the prong and the clamping wedges. In the engaged position, the clamping wedges are positioned radially inward of the disengaged position so as to press the tube against the prong. Each actuator wedge is slidingly engageable with the corresponding clamping wedge along complementary and cooperating wedge-shaped surfaces of the actuator wedge and the corresponding clamping wedge. The wedge-shaped surfaces include cooperating elongated protrusions and elongated slots.
Method for winding up a web of material, in particular of a compressible material and an apparatus for carrying out the method
The invention relates to a method for winding up a web of material with an apparatus including one winding-up space having a winding center; means for conveying and/or manipulating the web of material prior to and/or during winding-up; and including the following steps: operating the apparatus; monitoring the web of material and/or the resulting wound roll by means of at least one image capturing device for obtaining at least one current state of the web of material and/or of the wound roll; comparing at least one actual state to at least one target state and corresponding to the actual state, and determining at least one deviation of the actual state from the corresponding target state; if the deviation exceeds/falls below at least one predetermined limit value, performing a correction of at least one operating parameter of the apparatus which operating parameter is at least a contributing factor for the deviation.
Methods of making, packaging, and delivering compressed hollow coreless reformable roll products
A compressed hollow coreless roll of absorbent paper sheet produced by way of providing a roll of absorbent paper sheet by winding the sheet about a forming core member having a diameter in the range of 30 mm to 50 mm; removing the forming core member such that there is provided a hollow coreless roll of absorbent paper sheet with an axial cavity having a diameter in the range of 30 mm to 50 mm and compressing the hollow coreless roll such that the axial cavity is substantially collapsed. The compressed hollow coreless rolls are readily re-formed into cylindrical shape. Space-saving packages of the rolls are overwrapped with tubular polymer film to provide a flexible reconfigurable package of a series of individually encased rolls. Volume reductions of about 10 to about 20%, about 14% to about 20%, 30%, 40% and more as compared with conventional products are realized.
DRIVERS
There is disclosed a driver including an elongate shaft and at least one drive assembly. The drive assembly includes a housing which has an orifice for receiving the elongate shaft, and a drive wheel which is located at least partially within the housing. The drive wheel has a bore with a cross-section shaped so that the internal surface of the bore contacts the circumference of elongate shaft when the elongate shaft is inserted into the bore. The bore has at least two fulcrum surfaces so that the drive wheel is pivotable about the elongate shaft. The housing is slideable relative to the elongate shaft.
Method and Apparatus For Producing Coreless Roll Products
A coreless log of convolutely wound web material is formed by directing the web around an applicator roller that is in contact with a first surface of the web. An additive is transferred from a supply roller to the applicator roller over a first distance of the web and stopped over a second distance of the web. The web is directed around at least one further roller that is in contact with the second surface of the web that is opposite the first surface. The web is then wound around an elongated mandrel. The first distance of the web comprises a first set of windings nearest the center of the log, and the second distance of the web comprises a second set of windings wound around and extending radially outward from the first set of windings. The mandrel may then be removed to form the coreless log.
