Acoustic Automated Detection, Tracking and Remediation of Pests and Disease Vectors
20180303079 · 2018-10-25 ·

Techniques for detecting and tracking pests such as disease vectors include a directional acoustic sensor or array such as a phased array of microphones or a directional microphone; at least one processor; and at least one memory including one or more sequences of instructions. The memory and instructions and processor cause an apparatus to track an individual or swarm of pests based on direction and acoustic signatures within a beam of the directional acoustic sensor or array, in which the acoustic signature uniquely identifies a type of pest. In some embodiments, remedial apparatus is directed to impose remedial action against the individual or swarm of pests. In some embodiments the remedial apparatus includes an optical barrier.

An insect capturing device and a method of using the same. The insect capturing device includes a housing. The insect capturing device also includes an insect disabling portion. The insect capturing device also includes one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs) operable to emit light for attracting insects. The insect capturing device further includes a reflection surface. The LEDs are oriented to direct light onto the reflection surface for reflecting the light out from the housing to attract insects onto the insect disabling portion.

INSECT CATCHING DEVICE

This device for capturing insects comprises: a handle (10), a head (11) fastened to one end of the handle (10).

The head (11) comprises: a holder intended to contain a pack of adhesive sheets (13) suitable for holding an insect, and a frame (14) that matches the holder and has at least one rim (15) intended to cover part of the pack of adhesive sheets.

The rim (15) is configured so as to constitute a predetermined tear-away zone (Z1) on the pack of adhesive sheets (13), so that the adhesive sheets can be peeled apart from each other without multiple sheets being removed together.

The frame (14) defines a cavity (16) adjacent to one adhesive face (17) of the pack of 20 adhesive sheets (13) so that insects present in the cavity (16) adhere to the adhesive sheet.

Stackable creature control member, a stacked assembly of creature control members and mounting assemblies therefore
10098338 · 2018-10-16 ·

A stackable creature control member, a stacked assembly of creature control members and mounting assemblies for mounting in an operating position the stackable creature control member and/or the stacked assembly of creature control members. The stackable creature control member has a creature control substance applied over a planar or a non-planar surface. i.e., a surface having a plurality of points each of which has a different z-axis coordinate. The stackable feature of the creature control members allows the creature control members to be stacked for packing, shipping and/or use. The stackable assembly allows an individual to readily separate one creature control member from a directly adjacent creature control member without any liner or other separating member being present between adjacent creature control members. Preferably, the stacked assembly of creature control members in the stacked state is located in an operating position by a mounting assembly and individual creature control members are readily and easily removable from the stacked assembly as needed. Preferably, the creature control substance applied to a portion of the creature control members is either a creature trapping substance for trapping creatures on the creature control member or a repellent for repelling birds from the creature control member and/or the surrounding area.

Modular insect trap

The invention relates to a trap for collecting arthropods, for example ticks. The device comprises an attractant placed over an adhesive surface with the adhesive facing down or at an angle to prevent debris from inadvertently collecting. The arthropods, attracted to the device by the attractant then adhere to the adhesive surface on their dorsal side. The invention also relates to a method of using the device to collect insects by placing one or more of the devices in a desired collection area and collecting insects over a period of time without the need for constant monitoring of the devices.
