Insect Traps and Monitoring System

A discrete and safe automated insect monitoring system includes a housing, an interior chamber within the housing, and a light source arranged within the housing to illuminate at least a portion of a floor surface of the interior chamber. A multi-pixel optical sensor is arranged within the housing so that a field of view of the sensor comprehends a substantial portion of the floor surface. A processing circuit arranged within the housing receives optical data from the multi-pixel optical sensor, analyzes the optical data to detect the intrusion of an insect or other object into the interior chamber by comparing most recently received optical data to previously received optical data, and generates an indication in response to detecting the intrusion of an insect or other object. Detection and/or classification results can be wirelessly forwarded to another device, to alert appropriate personnel.

Insect trap device and method of using

An insect trap including a trap portion and a base portion. The trap portion includes an enclosure with an adhesive surface and a first opening. The adhesive surface is at least partially contained within the enclosure and is configured to adhere to an insect. The base portion includes a lighting element and a mounting portion. The lighting element is configured to provide light to the trap portion. The mounting portion is configured to communicate with and receive power from a power source. The trap portion is configured to removably engage the base portion and receive light from the base portion when engaged therewith. The base portion includes a snap protrusion and the trap portion includes a snap recess for receiving the snap protrusion. When the snap protrusion is received by the trap portion, the base portion and trap portion are engaged in a snap fit.

INSECT TRAP DEVICE AND METHOD OF USING

An insect trap and methods of using the trap are described herein. An insect trap includes a removeable trap portion and a base portion. The trap portion includes a housing having a concave shape; a grasping tab; and a docking switch activator. The base portion includes a face plate configured to receive and align the housing of the trap portion; electrically conductive prongs; a docking switch; a lighting element comprising at least one LED that emits UV light and at least one LED that emits visible light; and a circuit board electrically coupled to the electrically conductive prongs, the docking switch, and the lighting element. The docking switch is configured to activate the lighting element when the removable trap portion is mounted on the base portion. The housing comprises an inside surface comprising an adhesive coating, wherein the adhesive coating is transparent or translucent.

Flying insect light trap monitoring device

A flying insect light trap monitoring device and related methods and systems. The flying insect light trap monitoring device includes a housing, camera, controller, and communications module. The housing includes a mounting structure configured to couple with a flying insect light trap. The camera generally includes a wide angle lens. The camera and wide angle lens are secured to the housing and take a digital photograph image of a glue board in the flying insect light trap. The controller, including a processor and a memory, is secured within the housing and is communicatively coupled to the camera. The controller receives the digital photograph image. The communications module is operatively coupled with the controller and sends data packets, including the digital photograph image, to a remote server. Further, an image processing engine that processes the image and generates an insect count can be included.

A system, method, and kit for monitoring, capturing, or killing crawling insects, including the population of a colony of insects, is provided. A station is provided including a lower member that may be flat, curved or of varying contour, a curved or angled upper member connected directly or by one or more intermediate members to the lower member, and an adhesive on one of the lower member or the upper member. A secondary element can include a repellant or non-repellant pesticide, an adhesive, and/or an attractant to aid in killing the crawling insects. As the insects interact with the station and secondary element, they can take a portion of the pesticide back to the colony to kill more insects.
