An aerosol-generating article (10) comprising an aerosol-forming substrate (11) and a wrapper (30) that circumscribes the aerosol-forming substrate. The wrapper defines an overlapping region (41) in which the wrapper overlaps itself, the overlapping region comprising a first section (42) and a second section (43) externally disposed on the first section. The second section comprises a fold (44) which defines a folded section (45) at one end of the wrapper, and the folded section is sandwiched between the first section and the second section. An outer adhesive is disposed between the folded section and the second section.

The present invention relates to a component (3) for a non-combustible aerosol provision article, and a method of forming the component. The component comprises: a core section (26) extending longitudinally: and an outer section (27) extending longitudinally comprising an aerosol-generating substrate which surrounds the core section and is configured to generate aerosol when heated. The core section comprises a first material configured to receive a heating element. The method comprises: providing an assembly comprising a sheet of aerosol-generating substrate and a first material: and arranging the sheet of aerosol-generating substrate and the first material into a component such that the sheet of aerosol generating substrate forms an outer section, which surrounds a core section formed by the first material.
A COMPONENT FOR AN ARTICLE
The present invention relates to a component (3) for a non-combustible aerosol provision article, and a method of forming the component. The component comprises: a core section (26) extending longitudinally: and an outer section (27) extending longitudinally comprising an aerosol-generating substrate which surrounds the core section and is configured to generate aerosol when heated. The core section comprises a first material configured to receive a heating element. The method comprises: providing an assembly comprising a sheet of aerosol-generating substrate and a first material: and arranging the sheet of aerosol-generating substrate and the first material into a component such that the sheet of aerosol generating substrate forms an outer section, which surrounds a core section formed by the first material.
AEROSOL-GENERATING ARTICLE COMPRISING A DUAL-LAYER WRAPPING STRUCTURE
An aerosol-generating article (10) comprising an aerosol-forming substrate (11) and a dual-layer wrapping structure (30). The dual-layer wrapping structure comprises an inner wrapper (31) that circumscribes the aerosol-forming substrate, the inner wrapper comprising an inner wrapper internal surface and an inner wrapper external surface opposite the inner wrapper internal surface. The dual-layer wrapping structure comprises an outer wrapper (32) that circumscribes the inner wrapper, the outer wrapper comprising an outer wrapper internal surface and an outer wrapper external surface opposite the outer wrapper internal surface. The outer wrapper internal surface and the inner wrapper external surface are attached to one another by means of a first adhesive (51). The dual-layer wrapping structure defines an overlapping region (41) in which the dual-layer wrapping structure overlaps itself, the overlapping region comprising a first section (42) and a second section (43) externally disposed on the first section, the first section and the second section being attached to one another by means of a second adhesive (52). The outer wrapper has a basis weight between about 10 grams per square metre and 28 grams per square metre.
AEROSOL-GENERATING ARTICLE COMPRISING A DUAL-LAYER WRAPPING STRUCTURE
An aerosol-generating article (10) comprising an aerosol-forming substrate (11) and a dual-layer wrapping structure (30). The dual-layer wrapping structure comprises an inner wrapper (31) that circumscribes the aerosol-forming substrate, the inner wrapper comprising an inner wrapper internal surface and an inner wrapper external surface opposite the inner wrapper internal surface. The dual-layer wrapping structure comprises an outer wrapper (32) that circumscribes the inner wrapper, the outer wrapper comprising an outer wrapper internal surface and an outer wrapper external surface opposite the outer wrapper internal surface. The outer wrapper internal surface and the inner wrapper external surface are attached to one another by means of a first adhesive (51). The dual-layer wrapping structure defines an overlapping region (41) in which the dual-layer wrapping structure overlaps itself, the overlapping region comprising a first section (42) and a second section (43) externally disposed on the first section, the first section and the second section being attached to one another by means of a second adhesive (52). The outer wrapper has a basis weight between about 10 grams per square metre and 28 grams per square metre.

A machine for making a continuous tubular element with filling from web material, including first and second means for feeding respective continuous webs, a forming station configured to perform a folding and/or deformation of a first continuous web in a shaped configuration, and a wrapping station wherein the second continuous web is wound in a tubular shape around the first continuous shaped web to obtain the continuous tubular element. Upstream of the wrapping station there is a first gluing device configured to apply at least one longitudinal line of glue on at least one of the continuous webs in such a way as to define at least one gluing zone, said longitudinal line of glue being positioned in such a way as to coincide with a zone of superposing and contact between the two continuous webs feeding out of the wrapping station.

A machine for making a continuous tubular element with filling from web material, including first and second means for feeding respective continuous webs, a forming station configured to perform a folding and/or deformation of a first continuous web in a shaped configuration, and a wrapping station wherein the second continuous web is wound in a tubular shape around the first continuous shaped web to obtain the continuous tubular element. Upstream of the wrapping station there is a first gluing device configured to apply at least one longitudinal line of glue on at least one of the continuous webs in such a way as to define at least one gluing zone, said longitudinal line of glue being positioned in such a way as to coincide with a zone of superposing and contact between the two continuous webs feeding out of the wrapping station.

An apparatus and method for forming a smoking article rod is provided. A forming device is configured to engage a continuous stream of a smokable filler material with a first surface of a longitudinally-continuous web of a wrapping material, the web having first and second edge portions extending along the web, and a second surface opposing the first surface. A wrapping device is configured to longitudinally overlap the first and second edge portions such that the first surface about the first edge portion extends over the second surface about the second edge portion, to contain the smokable filler material within the web. An adhesive applicator device is configured to apply an adhesive material to the second surface about and longitudinally along the second edge portion, between the overlapped edge portions, prior to the wrapping device engaging the overlapped edge portions, with the adhesive material therebetween, to form a sealed seam.

An apparatus and method for forming a smoking article rod is provided. A forming device is configured to engage a continuous stream of a smokable filler material with a first surface of a longitudinally-continuous web of a wrapping material, the web having first and second edge portions extending along the web, and a second surface opposing the first surface. A wrapping device is configured to longitudinally overlap the first and second edge portions such that the first surface about the first edge portion extends over the second surface about the second edge portion, to contain the smokable filler material within the web. An adhesive applicator device is configured to apply an adhesive material to the second surface about and longitudinally along the second edge portion, between the overlapped edge portions, prior to the wrapping device engaging the overlapped edge portions, with the adhesive material therebetween, to form a sealed seam.

The invention relates to a production machine for producing rod-shaped products from a continuous strand of a continuous strip adhesively bonded to form a tube, comprising a device for applying a glue track to a strip, a format portion, in which the continuous strip into the continuous strand by shaping and adhesive bonding, and a cutting device which cuts the rod-shaped products from the continuous strand at a predetermined length, wherein the device for applying the glue track is formed by a device which applies the glue intermittently to form glue-free portions arranged at regular intervals, and a sensor apparatus is provided, which is directed towards the continuous strip or the continuous strand and generates a signal depending on the passage of a glue-free portion, and the device for applying the glue track is designed to change the length of the glue-free portions in the longitudinal direction of the glue track.
