A machine for making plant material smoking articles is provided having a feeding assembly that is configured to feed plant material to a combustible material rolling assembly. The combustible material rolling assembly includes a continuous stream of paper and a forming chute having a semispherical channel at a length and at least one adjustable guide. The combustible material rolling assembly is configured to roll the plant material in the continuous stream of paper at a wrapping rate within the semispherical channel to make at least one plant material smoking article. In some embodiments, the feeding assembly is either driven via gravity or a pneumatic delivery system. In one embodiment, at least one adjustable guide includes a tapered conical guide configured to additionally adjust the wrapping rate.

The aroma-producing body to be heated has a gas flow path of voids formed by the aggregation of heated aromatic producing substrates into primary aggregates, and a gas flow path of voids formed by the aggregation of the aroma-producing substrate to be heated and the primary aggregate thereof into a secondary aggregate, and a gas flow path of voids formed by the heated aromatic producing substrate and its primary aggregate in contact with the packaging material. These gas paths have a deformed gas flow path that penetrates the aroma-producing body to be heated.

A bottom punch assembly including a plurality of punches is positioned below the die block assembly. A top punch assembly having a plurality of punches is positioned above the die block assembly. A hopper carrying a material to form smoking products is positioned over the plurality of cavities and fills the cavities. The plurality of punches of the top punch assembly and the bottom punch assembly compress the material in the plurality of cavities of the die block. During this compression, the needle punch extends through one end of each of the plurality of cavities to form an opening in the compressed material therein. After compression is released, each compressed material provides a smoking product.

A holding container has a bottom defined at least partially by the first conveyor. A feed transports the smokable material from a supply container to the holding container so that that an amount of smokable material in the holding container is maintained within a range including a predetermined minimum amount and a predetermined maximum amount. A metering device meters the amount of smokable material that is moved by the first conveyor from the holding container toward the garniture.
