A method for repairing a smoking vessel with a patch having a first surface and a second surface includes locating a damaged portion of the smoking vessel, applying moisture to the first surface of the patch, applying the first surface of the patch to the damaged portion of the smoking vessel, and drying the patch to form an airtight seal over the damaged portion of the smoking vessel. The first surface is coated with an adhesive. The patch is a quick, cheap, and convenient way to prevent air from passing through the damaged area so smoke flows smoothly into the smoker's mouth without burning the smoker.

A wrapper of a smoking article includes a base web and at least one transverse banded region. The banded region includes a first zone, a second zone and a third zone of add-on material. The second zone has about 25% to about 75% less add-on material than the first zone and the third zone. The banded region is about 5 mm to about 9 mm wide and the second zone is centrally located between the first zone and the third zone. The second zone includes a plurality of dots of the add-on material spaced from adjacent dots in the second zone by a distance greater than a distance between adjacent dots in the first zone and the third zone.

A wrapping material for a smoking article is formed from a web that includes extracted pieces of cocoa husk combined with web building fibers. The web has a basis weight of from about 20 gsm to about 80 gsm and a permeability of from about 10 Coresta to about 100 Coresta. The wrapping material has a pleasant and neutral smell and taste. The wrapping material is tobacco and nicotine free and can be used as a carrier for flavorings or aerosol delivery agents.

An aerosol generating article. The article comprises a rod of aerosol generating material having a first end and a second end opposite to the first end, a filter attached at the first end of the rod, a paper wrap wound around the rod so as to provide an outer layer, and a non-ignitable insulation provided at the second end of the rod. The insulation is arranged to prevent ignition of the aerosol generating material at the second end, and the insulation allows transmission of microwave radiation such that the aerosol generating material at the second end can be heated by an external source of microwave radiation.

An aerosol-generating article is provided for producing an inhalable aerosol upon heating, the article including: a rod of aerosol-generating substrate extending from a rod proximal end to a rod distal end upstream from the proximal end, the substrate an aerosol-former, an aerosol former content of the substrate being at least 10 percent on a dry weight basis; a downstream section located downstream of the rod; and a wrapper circumscribing the rod, the wrapper including a wrapping base material having a dry basis weight, in which a treated portion of the wrapper extending between the proximal and distal ends includes a flame retardant composition including flame retardant compounds, such that the treated portion has an overall dry basis weight greater than that of the wrapping base material, and in which the treated portion includes at least about 2 g/m.sup.2 of the flame retardant compounds of surface area of the treated portion.

An aerosol-generating article is provided for producing an inhalable aerosol upon heating, the aerosol-generating article including: a rod of aerosol-generating substrate, the aerosol-generating substrate including at least an aerosol-former, in which the aerosol-generating substrate has an aerosol former content of at least about 10 percent on a dry weight basis; a downstream section at a location downstream of the rod of aerosol-generating substrate; and a wrapper circumscribing at least the rod of aerosol-generating substrate, in which a density of the aerosol-generating substrate is greater than about 300 milligrams per cubic centimeter, and in which the wrapper includes a flame retardant composition including one or more flame retardant compounds. A method of manufacturing an aerosol-generating article for generating an inhalable aerosol upon heating is also provided. An aerosol-generating system including an electrically operated aerosol-generating device and an aerosol-generating article is also provided.

The invention relates to a smoking article with a distal end and a mouth end, that extends in a circumferential direction and a longitudinal direction to form a cylindrical shape. Along the longitudinal direction from the distal to the mouth end at least one heated segment comprising tobacco or reconstituted tobacco binder (RTB), at least one cooling segment comprising a cylindrically shaped cooler material and a filter segment are arranged. The three sections create a flow path from the distal to the mouth end, wherein the heated segment, the cooling segment and the filter segment are at least in part enclosed by a first wrapper. The heated segment comprises at least one second wrapper. A smoking article is characterized in that the second wrapper is coated with a tobacco product comprising tobacco particles having an average particle size of 30 μm and a dispersion medium for dispersing the tobacco particles.

This heat-not-burn tobacco product is provided with an electric heating device and a tobacco stick. The tobacco stick is provided with: a tobacco rod part having a tobacco filler containing cut tobacco; a mouthpiece part coaxially connected to the tobacco rod part; and a ventilation hole provided in the mouthpiece part. The electric heating device has a hollow piping heater having a heating chamber formed therein. The hollow piping heater has: a compression tube part that compresses the tobacco rod part from the outer circumferential side when the tobacco stick is inserted; and a heating wall part that is at least partially formed by the compression tube part and heats the tobacco rod part from the outer circumferential side.

A smoking article wrapper includes at least one coated surface area and at least one non-coated surface area, wherein the smoking article wrapper is combustible and provides a mean volumetric flow rate of at least 40 CU, wherein the at least one coated surface area provides a glossiness of at least 4 GU, the at least one non-coated surface area provides a glossiness of less than 4 GU and the difference of glossiness between the at least one coated surface area and the at least one non-coated surface area is more than 2 GU. A smoking article includes such a smoking article wrapper. A method for producing a smoking article includes such a smoking article wrapper by printing a polymer on parts of the smoking article wrapper by flexography.

The invention relates to a sheathing paper for aerosol-generating articles, which paper comprises cellulose fibres and onto which paper a composition is applied, which comprises a substance that accelerates the thermal breakdown of cellulose and a binder. Should the mean air permeability of the sheathing paper be 10 cm.sup.3/(cm.sup.2.Math.min.Math.kPa) or more, said composition is merely applied in some regions, which cover at least 0.5% and at most 70% of the area of the sheathing paper.
