There is provided an aerosol generating article (10) comprising an aerosol generating substrate (12), a mouthpiece (14) in axial alignment with the aerosol generating substrate (12), and a tipping wrapper (20) wrapped around the mouthpiece (14) and at least a portion of the aerosol generating substrate (12). The mouthpiece (14) comprises a mouthpiece wrapper (30) circumscribing one or more mouthpiece segments (16). The tipping wrapper (20) comprises at least one weakening line (22) extending transversely around at least a portion of the tipping wrapper (20); an upstream wrapper portion (24) extending upstream from the at least one weakening line; and a removable tipping wrapper portion (26) extending downstream from the at least one weakening line (22). The mouthpiece wrapper (30) comprises at least one surface formation (28) underlying the removable tipping wrapper portion (26).

Provided is an aerosol generating article including a filter segment in which a channel is formed, the aerosol generating article including: a front-end filter segment arranged at an upstream end that is to be inserted into an aerosol generating device; a rear-end filter segment arranged at a downstream end that is to contact a mouth of a user; and a tobacco rod arranged between the front-end filter segment and the rear-end filter segment, wherein at least one filter segment of the front-end filter segment and the rear-end filter segment includes: at least one channel extending from the upstream end toward the downstream end; and a filter structure filtering out some components of aerosol, and wherein the at least one filter segment has a suction resistance corresponding to a ratio between a cross-sectional area of the at least one channel and a cross-sectional area of the filter structure.

An aerosol-generating article (10) includes an aerosol forming substrate (20) and a filter (30) downstream of the substrate. The filter comprises filter material having filaments that are distributed throughout a transverse cross section of the filter. The filter comprises from about 7.5% by weight to about 11.5% by weight of plasticizer or from about 10.5% by weight to about 15% by weight of plasticizer. The filters may be hard, while maintaining suitable resistance to draw.

The present disclosure is directed to a smoking article that comprises a heat source configured to generate heat upon ignition thereof, a substrate material having opposed first and second ends, the heat source being disposed proximate the first end of the substrate material and the substrate material having an aerosol precursor composition associated therewith, a mouthpiece, the mouthpiece being disposed proximate the second end of the substrate material, and a heat transfer component. In one implementation, the heat transfer component comprises a hollow structure and opposing first and second flanges located on respective ends thereof, wherein the hollow structure extends through the heat source such that the heat source is located between the first and second opposing flanges. In another implementation, the heat transfer component is located within the heat source, penetrates at least a portion of the substrate material, and includes a cap located between the heat source and the substrate material.

A smoking jig is provided having an electronic cigarette smoke generating part (e.g., an atomizer) mounted in the jig and configured to control, individually, a heater for heating tobacco leaves and a heater for generating electronic cigarette smoke, thereby allowing a smoker to smoke in accordance with his/her preference. A filter member can be inserted into the tip of the hard tip member. A preferred embodiment includes the hard tip member being made of borosilicate glass. The hard tip member can be cylindrical in shape or cone shaped to match the side walls of the paper encasement. A preferred embodiment includes the glass hard tip member being transparent and the filter member is colored allowing the filter member to be viewed through the glass hard tip member.
