SET OF CUTTING INSERTS AND METHODS OF MAKING A SET OF CUTTING INSERTS
A set of cutting inserts includes a stem portion, a plurality of branch portions attached to and extending from the stem portion, and at least one cutting insert attached to each of the plurality of branch portions. The stem portion has a longitudinal axis extending between a top end of the stem portion and a bottom end of the stem portion and at least one of the top end of the stem portion is disposed along the longitudinal axis above uppermost portions of each cutting insert, and the bottom end of the stem portion is disposed along the longitudinal axis below lowermost portions of each cutting insert. Also, methods for manufacturing a set of cutting inserts are disclosed.
Triangular tangential milling insert and milling tool
A reversible and indexable tangential milling insert includes two major surfaces and a peripheral surface which extends therebetween. The milling insert includes a mid-plane (M) located midway between the major surfaces, and an insert clamping bore with a central bore axis (H). The peripheral surface includes three side surfaces, each of which includes exactly two cutting portions, two relief portions and two minor abutment surfaces located on opposite sides of the mid-plane (M), each continuously extends between respective cutting portion and relief portion. Each cutting portion includes a major cutting edge, a minor cutting edge, and a corner cutting edge. In a cross section along a first imaginary plane perpendicular to the bore axis (H), each minor abutment surface is concavely curved, and on each side surface, the minor abutment surfaces converge outwardly.
CUTTING INSERT AND INDEXABLE CUTTING TOOL
A minor cutting edge has a first minor cutting edge and a second minor cutting edge that extends inward of the insert in a direction of an insert short side face axial line, as the second minor cutting edge extends from the first minor cutting edge in a direction of an insert major face axial line. A flank face of the second minor cutting edge is inclined outward of the insert in the direction of the insert short side face axial line, as the flank face extends from the second minor cutting edge in the direction of an insert long side face axial line, and is inclined outward of the insert in the direction of the insert short side face axial line, as the flank face extends from a major face adjacent to the flank face in the direction of the insert major face axial line.
CUTTING TOOL, A TOOL BODY AND A METHOD FOR PRODUCING A TOOL BODY
A tool body of a cutting tool includes at least one insert pocket having a bottom surface with a support face configured to provide support to a lower surface of an insert to be received in the pocket and having at least one cutting edge formed between a top surface and a side surface connecting the lower surface and the top surface. The bottom surface of the pocket has a countersunk central portion surrounded by a peripheral bottom surface portion configured to form the only support face of the bottom surface to the lower surface of an insert to be received in the pocket.
TOOL, A CUTTING INSERT AND A COMPACTED POWDER PART
A tool for chip-removing machining including a tool body and at least one cutting insert mounted in an insert seat of the tool body. The cutting insert includes an upper side and a lower side directed toward a bottom contact surface of the insert seat. The cutting insert is formed by sintering together two compacted powder parts, one of the parts forming an upper part and the other forming a lower part. An imaginary plane is defined between the lower and upper parts. A side surface extends between the upper and lower sides around the periphery of the cutting insert, and at least one cutting edge is formed in a transition between the upper side and the side surface. The tool is configured so that the tool body contacts the side surface of the cutting insert only above the imaginary plane along an upper part of the side surface.
Cutting insert and gear milling cutter
A cutting insert and a gear milling cutter is disclosed. A first major side portion of an insert body of the cutting insert is provided with a first recess having a first bottom surface (24a) and a second major side portion is provided with a second recess having a second bottom surface. The first and second bottom surfaces extend substantially in parallel with a longitudinal axis of the insert body. A first minor side portion is provided with a third recess having a third bottom surface and a second minor side portion is provided with a fourth recess having a fourth bottom surface, the third and fourth bottom surfaces extending across the longitudinal axis. Thus, the cutting insert may be supported in a relevant gear milling cutter against one of the first and second bottom surfaces and against one of the third or fourth bottom surfaces.
Reinforced double-sided cutting insert and cutting tool with reinforced double-sided cutting insert
A double-sided cutting insert includes two end surfaces that each includes major rake surfaces adjacent major cutting edges that form first angles with planes of major side surfaces of the insert, and a central support surface forming a second angle with the planes of the major side surfaces. Each end surface further includes major intermediate surfaces between the major rake surfaces and the central support surface. The major intermediate surfaces form third angles with the planes of the major side surfaces that are greater than the first angles and smaller than the second armies when measured in a central plane that extends along a central axis of the hole and is generally perpendicular to the planes of the major side surfaces and planes of the central support surfaces.

A cutting tool may include a cutter body, and a cutting insert group coupled to the cutter body, wherein the cutter body includes a working length, wherein the cutting insert group forms a continuous cutting edge, and wherein the continuous cutting edge extends continuously through the working length of the cutter body.
INDEXABLE, SINGLE-SIDED CUTTING INSERT HAVING TWO CLAMPING BORES AND CUTTING TOOL THEREFOR
A cutting tool rotatable about a tool axis, having a cutting body and at least one indexable, single-sided cutting insert removably secured in an insert receiving pocket of the cutting body. The cutting insert has opposing upper and lower surfaces with a peripheral side surface extending therebetween and a central axis passing therethrough. First and second clamping bores extend between and open out at the upper and lower surfaces. First and second primary cutting edges are formed at the intersection of the upper surface and the peripheral side surface. The lower surface includes first and second annular recesses communicating with the first and second clamping bores, respectively, and first and second recess channels extending from the first and second clamping bores, respectively, to the peripheral side surface. The first and second recess channels extend parallel to a longitudinal first plane containing the central axis.
Double-sided, indexable cutting insert with ramping capability and cutting tool therefor
A double-sided, indexable cutting insert for a milling cutter includes a first surface, a second surface, and side surfaces. Major cutting edges are defined at an intersection between the first and second surfaces and side surfaces. Minor cutting edges and ramping cutting edges are defined at the intersection between the first and second surfaces and side surfaces. The cutting insert is mounted in a milling cutter having a bottom seating surface formed at an angle with respect to a central, rotational axis of the milling cutter, which provides superior performance for both milling and ramping cutting operations.
